Rochester's new G
I think about this particular car hobby as much about driving and owning the car as I do researching (such as it is) and planning. I loosely adhere to an arbitrary, self-imposed budget that hovers around $2500 per year, give or take. That budget includes mods, maintenance, parts and repairs, so it's not always exciting about money spent... but it usually is.
And I've been at this since buying the car nearly new back in Jan 2012, or 8+ years now. So naturally there are fewer things left on the list.
Anyway, more and more lately, I'm thinking about getting the car tuned.

So my tune from Z1 is a great tune, however, it was a real PITA to get via email/road tune/laptop. Jon at Z1 is a really good tuner, but he is extremely busy. I can only recommend them to you if you are able to drive all the way down to their shop in Georgia and get a tune on their dyno. Skip Z1 if you plan on doing it any other way, unless you have an extra 6 months to burn to get your tune right.

A couple of years ago, I connected with a shop owned by a racing team, and they were doing EcuTek dyno-tunes. Sadly, they don't do that anymore, although I could still network for the expertise, and coordinate that with pulls on their dyno. So that's still an option, but an outside one that I haven't flushed out.
Seems the nearest, solid Nissan dyno-tuning shop with a good rep is R/T Tuning outside Philly. That's a 7 hour drive, so it would be a whole weekend, and an overnight.
Option #3 is the street tune, like you did. If I go that route, pretty sure I'd tap Moncef at AdminTuning.

Look up bythabay on here too. Hes gotten very good reviews on his tunes and hes apparently a computer scientist and very methodical with his tuning process. That's who I'm gonna use when I get mine tuned.

Today I put a top coat of Gloss Sauce on my Vossens, still in winter storage.
https://www.myg37.com/forums/car-car...oss-sauce.html
Except for a few inevitable nicks, and absent any curb rash at all, they still look fantastic, six years later. With a finish that's as good as new. They really do look great. And the Conti Extreme Sports are also in good condition, with lots of tread depth, and no apparent inner edge wear yet because of the neg camber.
I love that I can look at this set up six years later and still feel the appreciation. It's a good, honest feeling. One that's about to go up a notch with these rotors.
Also feel weirdly guilty giving this any attention, while the pandemic is racing around the globe, and my girls and I are following New York's stay-at-home order. Feels like playing the violen while the ship sinks.

The US military has a saying... lead, follow, or get out of the way. That isn't impugning the latter - sometimes, you need to get the F out of the way so the pros can do things professionally.
I feel that the world at large is in that mode now, as it should be. I'm not a medical person nor do I play one on TV. As a lawyer I have lots of friends that are professionals (ie, doctors, dentists and such) and all I can do is reach out to them and let them know that if they ask me for something while they are saving the world, I'll try to help as best I can.
Although I have been tinkering in the garage to see if I can make a vent out of my air compressor and an old NATO gas mask. I'm older and diabetic - might as well stay at home...

Appointment made. New brakes getting installed next week. It's been 5 months since I bought them... too soon? LOL
Once that's over, I have to reassess "next mod". Things that are still banging around in my head, 9 years later:
tune... street or dyno, $$$$
drivers seat repair, $$$
ding doctor, $$
undercarriage tray, $
long-tube intakes, $$$

I've got many of the same mods on my future list. I was quoted $1800 to repair the driver and passenger inner back sides (where your shiftin' arm would sit) since both are cracked... for that kinda money I'm going to try one of the leather and vinyl repair kits on amazon first. Tune is in my future and I'd suggest that would make the biggest difference for you. PDR - I've got some dings that annoy me. Long-tube... I'm working on that one now
I think my biggest next mod will be swaybars.
Under tray - need to see if Black Friday is even a thing this year.

Good to see this. Are auto dealers considered "essential" in NY? They are here in WI, but we have just had service available for other essential workers until this Monday when I go back to work. We are being as safe as possible, but I am not sure how you sell a car without letting a guest into the building??? Anyway, make sure you drive enough before you drop the car off to see what differences you notice. What repair do you need on your driver's seat? I see an under tray in your future....
My drivers seat... the finish has worn off the middle pieces, in an area maybe 1x5", allowing the raw leather to get stained from blue jeans. An imperfect repair is around $400, and replacement leather would be north of $600. That was when I last looked into it two years ago. Makes me really sad every time I get in the car.
In-person Sales were shut down, but Service has been open all along. However, the brakes are getting installed at a local street/pro shop.

It sucks, and I felt the same way every time I opened the door on my LGT. I'd skip getting it fixed and go long tube and tune. LT isn't expensive, and is pretty easy to DIY. Loved the look and sound of my Takedas.
Rotary- That seems really expensive if I am thinking of the right pieces of leather on your seats. I was quoted $800 to put suede inserts in both front seats where you sit on the bottom and back of the seats. Would have done it too had I not found the Sparcos.
Rochester- Are most dealers adapting to online sales or is that not allowed either? That blue jean transfer stinks on lighter interiors. Maybe just making sure you wear light gray pants from now on will help.

I have a few on my G from the previous owner which my PDR friend will be tackling in 2 weeks, pretty stoked for that! Also thinking of replacing the undercarriage tray as mine is in bad shape and I'll be installing the sways bars soon.
