Broken spc arm

So I was driving the other day going about 60mph, and my car just spun out (thankfully didn't get hurt, or hit anyone. Had to get it towed to a friends shop for the night. Next day he called and told me it was because the control arm broke, and it was actually put on backwards. The reason for the post is I'm basically out a control arm, he just ordered a normal on from infiniti, and cost me around 250$ to fix it. The main problem I'm having is the guy who apparently "put it ok backwards" has always done all my suspension work for me being that he's the only person in fayetteville, nc that will touch a lowered infiniti. So 1. Is there anyway I can get a new control arm and 2. Anyone know anyone around the nc area to align our cars.

May I ask why you didn't just make the guy who botched the original install do it over again on HIS dime?

I believe you are talking about the front upper control arm, correct? I'm not certain the the control arm can be installed backward. If you get in touch with SPC I'm sure they'd love to see the broken part and if it is somehow a defective part they'll ship you another one out.

Also, have your friend with the shop install it. It's not difficult at all.

Maybe they are right/left specific?

Sorry guys, let me rephrase that. It was the left rear camber arm. Not the control arm.

Glad you are okay. I don't think you can put in the rear backwards either.

Wow Brandon, sorry to hear about that, glad you're OK.
Agree w/ vqsmile, you shouldn't have to pony up a cent, that guy/shop who did the work should be on the hook (and for more than the cost of the part IMO).

Not sure if you are talking about wrong side or upside down because I don't think you can put on backwards.

Should I be worried about buying a SPC camber kit? This is like the second time I have read something troubling about SPC.

The SPC fronts were re-designed about a year or so ago and I have heard about problems with the rears. I went with all SPL but it is about 2x the cost of SPC but if you physically compare them; you can see the difference in design and quality.

Im concerned about reliability on a crucial suspension component. I dont want to crash because I was too cheap to do it right.

No. SPC is just fine. If the part isn't installed correctly, it's hardly a defect if it fails. SPC knockoffs come in various inferior levels of quality, but SPC suspension parts have a solid reputation overall.

Where did the OP buy the SPC parts? Is there a reason you suspect them being knockoffs or just making a general statement? I understand failure due to improper installation, would be nice to know what the real cause for failure was. I would have the manufacturer inspect the parts and wait for their report.

I'm not saying OP has knockoff parts, he stated that he has SPC. He said his issue was improper installation. I'm saying in general that breakage is more common with knockoffs like Ichiba, Megan, etc. that are knockoffs of the SPC design but probably lack proper engineering.
