Picking the car up today at 4:30 pm EST. Will drive around 30 miles before I am home. Detail report to follow, but installer says no issues. He seemed to indicate that he was having fun driving Ol' Aida around.
My mother, Aida, was in love with Infinitis when they first came out. She never got to own one. I named the coupe Ol' Aida in her name.
UPDATE: Possible butt dyno/placebo, but after putting 30 odd miles on the new setup this evening:
1. I can feel the road. Not in a bad way. Think of it as "Nape of the EArth" navigation.
2. Stick to the ground as I take turns... briskly.
3. No squeaks, bumps, rattles, chirps, thuds, whams, bams, or any other sound that is not supposed to be there.
I got home and it was dark already. I'll dive it a bit and take a look at that arm and see how it relates to the sway bar. But I anticipate no issues with OEM.
^ sweet man, good to hear..After i sent that post i realized you said earlier you were gonna go no sways at all? did you change your mind or did you just mean no aftermarket sways?
And we have not reached the first 120 miles on the setup, but I can say that there is no ugly wheel gap. Here, have a night pic:
It looks lower in the back, but the car is level at the rocker panel. It is down a good 1.5" at the wheel well. I am satisfied, but I assume there will be extra settling as times goes by.
It's been wet and snowy, not to mention that I have had to work late and come home at night. But I have a "reasonable" pic somewhere here...
Car confortably sitting on flat driveway. Look at that en link and the distance to the arm. That's between 1" to 1.25". My theory is that:
1. A larger sway bar will occupy at least half of the distance to the arm
2. When the suspension fully settles, and under compression said sway will touch the arm.
I think this problem is accentuated on adjustable sways; if one let them be close to OEM setting. So OEM sways will be more than ok, AM sways may/maynot touch the arm depending on how beefy they are and how the end links are adjusted.
Does the sway bar move with the vehicle when you drop it? Like if you were to drop the car lower (coils, air, etc) would that sway come closer to the arm? I ask because it seems like you have a mild drop, and I plan to be lower than that (I think) at cruising speed once I get my air installed.
OG: The bar is in a fixed position relative to the body of the car, because that is where the mounting points for the sway bar are. So it makes sense that the bar is closer to the camber arm as the car is lowered. Or at least that is the way it looks to me.
