245/45 & 275/35 stock rim handling issues?

So, I am about to purchase a new set of tires (Pilot cup supersports) for my G37S, which is on stock rims and stock suspension. Seen a lot of posts in this forum about upgrading to 245/45/19 front & 275/35/19 rear... I am considering doing the same thing. So far I've concluded the following from the posts I've read:

1) People think it looks better as the tyres arent 'stretched'
2) It is safe and doesnt rub

What I can't seem to find out conclusively is, is it actually better (other than the standard assumption more rubber must = better)? I mean Infiniti must have chosen the narrower tyres for a reason, for example reduced bodyroll and therefore better control at the limit/on uneven twisty roads?? Wouldn't upgrading the tyre width without adjusting the suspension setup affect that?

Aside from looks, I am questioning whether such an upgrade is noticable/worth the extra cash/actually detrimental to handling (without other upgrades). (And I prefer driving technical/windy country roads rather than trying to shave 0.2 seconds off a straight drag sprint...)

Thoughts?

Other than a bit more understeer the setup should be a nice improvement. I have 245/295 staggered setup and I'm very happy w/ the overall drive.

That's what Infiniti engineers asked themselves!!

Like any other automaker, it was a matter of cost.

To me it was worth the extra cost.

The extra rubber does help handling.

Why do you think the FIA puts a restriction on tire widths to the teams!

The better combination would be 245/40-19 and 275/35-19. Sizes will fit the oe wheels and wont rub. This combination offers more tire selection and better overall steering response/grip.

I have those now!

If I could do it again, I would go 255/40-19 and 275/35-19.

Less stretch on the front, and only.1" diameter increase.
26.7" frt. 27" rr.

Yep I have the 255 and 275 combo as well on the Pilot Super Sports and I absolutely love the look and handling.
