G35x/G37x with larger wheels : Handling Issues

Hi Guys,

Forgive my ignorance on handling with larger wheels/tires, but I've recently put on the 19" G37 Coupe Sport rims on my 2008 G35x sedan (which came with 17" stock). I currently am running 245/45/19 all around with the Bridgestone potenzas. My plan is to change this up to having 275/35/19 in the rear.

Now to the handling issues. Since I've put on the 19" wheels, I certainly feel the road significantly more as expected. The thing that is really disconcerting is the substantial increase in bump steer. Any small bump in the road will jerk the steering wheel right or left, making the overall car feel extremely "squirrelly". Maybe it's my lack of experience with larger wheels, but the car does not feel as planted as with the stock wheels. It almost feels dangerous with the amount of bump steer I am getting.

That being said, is this normal? Do you guys with larger wheels experience a lot more bump steer? If not, how should I go about resolving this issue? I am hoping that lowering the car and getting an alignment will resolve most of these issues, but for the time being, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I noticed the same problem as well with mine. I bought an 08 G37S and when it had brand new tires, bump steer was non existent. Now that the tires are very low, bump steer is really bad. I am currently with my stock wheels, but I also have Volk G2's that i run in the summer, and when I mount them, bump steer goes away. They have new tires on them as well.
