Tanabe front springs with Infiniti Sport rear springs – G37S Coupe
Well, instead of joining the “Tanabach” family as some have, I’ve become a member of the “Tanasport” clan.
I was looking for a solution to the infamous “motor boat” look of the G’s sport suspension, but (as a middle aged guy) I wanted a conservative drop while maintaining the stock ride comfort. For me, the solution was to install Tanabe NF210 springs in front and leave the rear (sport model) springs stock.
Before modification, the front of my car measured 28 1/8 inches and the rear 27 1/4. After installation of the NF210 front springs, the measurements are 27 1/4 (F) and 27 1/4 (R). Dead even! And the look is SO much better, with the ride essentially the same - the steering may be slightly sharper, but that’s about it.
This is the way the car should have come from the factory. It’s a shame to spend $400 on parts and installation to fix a one inch styling mistake, but worth it in the long run, as I will no longer be bothered by the front tire gap. Once I live with this setup for a couple of months and am certain the stance and ride comfort remain the same, I’ll put the Tanabe rear springs up for sale and hopefully recover a bit of my cost.
While the look of the wheels is not overly tucked, I may get 10-15 mm spacers to complete the look, however I’m apprehensive about safety and vibration issues. I’m open to (and welcome) suggestions from the forum in this matter. Who makes the best spacers? What type to buy?
Here’s pictures of the current stance with this setup…

wow, they actually are very close in height. The only downflaw I could see happening is that the fronts will continue to settle over the next 6 months causing the front to be a tad lower.
VERY close though!! nicely done!

My installer checked the alignment "old school" style (with a tape measure) and said it looked good, but I'm taking it back soon for a full computer alignment. Seat of the pants says it's pretty durn close right now.
The drop looks perfect and I think I'm finally gonna pull the trigger to do the same too
