Front and Rear Brakes G37S Coupe
Front and Rear Brakes G37S Coupe
Hey again guys
Got a few questions here...
My pads are getting low so I wanted to run by a few options im thinking of.
First of all, I know changing brakes are the easiest thing to do in the world, and I would love to save myself atleast $500 for infiniti service to do it.
Now, What complications will I run into, changing my pads?
I have a lot of general mechanic knowledge, and turned a wrench most of my life, however, I want to retain all the value within my G37S coupe that I can.
I am looking for pads that DO NOT make my wheels BLACK! YUCK!
Should I order the pads from Infiniti Online Parts? Found here: https://www.infinitipartsonline.com/...FQu87Qod_Ct_Kw
Also, my front calipers are 6 piston, and my rears are 4 piston, is that correct?
Any insight into some problems I may have, or this is just a touch and go job like the others.
Typically, this is how I change my brakes.
Loosen bolts, jack front driver side up, take wheel off
Beer
Fondle my package, contemplate bringing to service department
Beer
Unscrew bolts that hold caliper on, check lines for wear, etc.
Beer
Unclip pads, pull off pads, find pads I bought from Infiniti Online
Beer
Replace these pads, put on caliper
Beer
Ok this is where it gets tricky.
Push and Hold Brakes
RELEASE fluid line to drain the line, brakes fall to the floor.
Beer
Close valve
Beer
Pump brakes 3 times, hold
Release fluid line again
Beer
Brakes should feel good!
Move to other side
Beer
Thats just a run down of how I do brakes. Shouldn't be any different on my coupe right?
Sorry, I mostly work with 90s vehicles, so this computerized bruhaha has me a little worried.

Fronts 4 rears 2
Calipers do not have to be removed.
Pads come straight out through upper opening.
Why??

You shouldn't have to remove the calipers or bleed the brakes. Just take off the tire, push back the pistons and remove the pads. Take the lid off of the brake fluid reservoir when pushing in the pistons.
Check out the DIY for the 370z . Not sure why the one for the g37 has you take off the caliper.
Ok so, I won't consume as much beer during a none bleeding process.
Bummer.
However, this can't be that easy, really?
So no bleeding, ok, push pistons in ok, np.
Rears are same as fronts on this?
You're sure I don't have to bleed it? My pedel goes a little down, I want it to be sticky.
Also, where should I get pads, so theirs not any brake dust all over my wheels?????

No bleeding at all. Changing the pads on this car is probably one of the easiest things there is. I changed mine out after going to the track in a matter of minutes, or could have at least. I decided to clean things up a bit while I had everything off. If your pads are getting close to being changed though it wouldn't hurt to go ahead and flush the fluid too just to make everything fresh.

Tranny swap? 2 day event atleast, only because by the end of day one, i'll probably be plastered.
Well, you guys still haven't told me where to get pads from. I guess i'll order them from Infiniti parts when I bring the car in for the 45k service early.
I'm also interested in doing a auto flush. I still have to locate my tranny dip stick, lol.
I have been under the hood checking things, but just not worried about the tranny, mainly checking my oil levels to see if there is any oil consumption, and checkin brake fluid, etc.
Thanks for the help everyone, muchly appreciated!
