Lowering with Koni Yellows

Lowering with Koni Yellows

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum but I searched EVERYWHERE for an answer to this but couldn't find anything.

I recently purchased an '08 G37S and I want to close that front wheel gap, but I'd like to avoid any of the spring/coilover setups that most people are doing. I don't want to mess with the car too much, and definitely don't want to put a camber kit on (had them on my '04 Accord and they are noisy as he**).

On my Accord I had Koni Yellows with Eiback P/K, and I recall the Koni's had 3 height settings on them. I'm curious - has anyone tried lowering their car with ONLY the Koni's (leaving the stock springs on)? The lowest setting would theoretically be .5" lower than stock, but I don't know if that's what would happen in reality.

No, because they dont make them for our car.

Theyre arent any aftermarket struts available.

Spings/Coils/Camber kits are not noisy on a G. The quality of the products are far superior that those they make for a Honda. Not bashing a Honda, but that's just my experience. I've had all 3 on my various G's and have never had any problems.

Seems like I got differing replies... If they don't make aftermarket struts for our cars, then are our only options springs/stock shocks or coil overs?

Yes, you can either put springs on your oem struts, or get coilovers.

Springs on this car is not bad at all. Even with camber kits, they arent noisy.

Appreciate it fellas! I think I might have to go with the Tanabe coilovers, can't believe how nice they look and it sounds like the perfect ride! It would be nice to raise it up enough to not need a camber kit either...

You can set the Tanabe's at about 1-1.5" and not need a camber kit.

Yup! They're the perfect street setup, no camber kit needed if you're dropped 1.5" or less

I guess my only question is the different definitions of "need" on here. Some people are okay being -2 degrees but I want the camber to be same as stock. If I can lower the car 1" to 1.5" and still stay in factory specs, I'd be happy as can be!

I'm not 100% certain, but pretty sure that if you only lower it 1" to 1.5" you will be able to get back to factory spec with a camber kit. Be sure to also get the toe adjustment bolt, that is as important as camber for not wearing out the tires and keeping the alignment in spec.

I'm back to confused again - if I lower it 1" to 1.5" will I stay within factory specs WITHOUT a camber kit? Anyone have any idea how low we can go and not need a camber kit? My bad experiences with them combined with what everyone says on here about theirs is making me REALLY want to avoid having to use them.

You can go 1-1.5" and get it back to or damn near factory camber settings.

I cannot say for certain that you can adjust back to factory spec without a kit by lowering it that amount. I know that you can adjust it back in spec with the camber kit. Kidcane above believes you can do so without a kit, I will admit that I don't know that for certain.

When I lowered with springs, I just purchased and installed a rear camber kit at the same time. I have had no issues with my rear camber kit whatsoever, on this or any previous car. I avoided the front camber kit by SPC because it had fitment nightmares from being poorly designed before being released to the market.

I have a 2008 Infiniti G35S sedan and i'm looking at the Tanabe Sustec Pro S-OC Coilovers too, they seem to be the best compromise between daily street driving and performance. I also want my vehicle to be able to be set back to factory camber settings with a 1 inch drop without using a camber kit. I have read a bunch of rumors that Tokico is currently making performance struts for our cars
