I am a firm believer in keeping the same tire sizes on cars and keeping the feel the same. I also do not believe driving on tires with little thread or compromising safety to save a few bucks. However, Potenza are very sticky tires which dont have good life and I have found other brands that stick as good, last at least 33% longer, and even if the same price turn out ot be a better bang for the buck.

I would always keep the car with the same size tires and always W/Y/Z rated tired. I usually find W(ZR) to be the best because W are rated safe at extended periods at 168mph. Z are rated safe at something near 190-mph but wear in a hurry.

Has anyone found good 19 inch replacement tires for the S version yet? I am open to suggestions.

Actually Z-rated tires just mean they can go in excess of 149mph.
Y-rated tires are rated for 186mph.

Michelin Pilot Sport AS are a great replacement that will wear much longer. Prepare to pay about $1500 for a set though.

 

I get confused on that. I always buy W rated these days. I thought Y was in between the 2. Honestly, if you do a search on the net, you will find varying information.

Is that $1500 the price just for the tires or an estimate on getting them installed and balanced also.

I am just curious about the price per tire for the front and back compared to the Potenza.

i'm still only at 2k miles.. lots of city driving, minimal hway. they still look pretty good though.

 

My experience is Potenzas wear out on the outside in a hurry. It depends on how you drive especially if you like curves at higher than legal speeds.

^^i drive like you described, and then some... im at 23K miles and def need to replace now. starting to hear some tire noise when i turn in hard, and i think its actually comin from the front wheels.

but that squeel isnt normal. I was thinking to replace around 18-20k and now i feel it is def needed. Anyone have experience with the Verdestein Sessanta's? They are like $775 shipped for all four. Gonna ditch the route of gettin Michelin PS2 A/S now.. those were comin in at just under $1200 shipped for me.

 

12k? damn, i was under the impression 9k was a good number for these tires.

i'm not real big on flybys or any other form of "showing off" the G to random people around town so im guessing my tires will go a long way too. all i know is, once they're just about ready to be replaced, i'm gonna go out and buy new ones and then do a burnout and see how much smoke i can make with the potenzas

 

I drive my car 90% for business which is just city driving. It is the 10% where I have fun but as an result I get more out of the tires than I would for my weekend fun car which I no longer do

I just replaced my tires at 18k. I could keep the fronts for little longer since they had little more tread then the rear ones. But I always feel better about replace the tires all on the same time. I wasn't expecting these tires to last this long though. I do like to take the corners faster than the speed limits, as long as it is safe to do. Therefore, tires wearing down unevenly, especially on the outer edges. Oh well, that is a little price to pay for owning a such a fun ride!

 

You are doing the the rigth thing IMO. The fronts would have to have been replaced soon and it always is a different feel when you just swap out the backs.
You will have a car that feels brand new as far as driving and cornering.

You are right, this is just the price of owning a car like this. If you want to play, you gota pay. Its good to see people put a emphasis on safety. The cost of ownership for a performance heavy car is more than other types of cars. Anyone who doesnt want to pay for good quality new tires or doesnt want to put 93 Octane in the car needs to get another car.
