Ny last three cars came with Potenzas and they did not last long on any car.

What are people recommending as a replacement for the Potenza with the same grip that last longer. There are always better tires than Potenza. It is not that they are bad tires, it is they wear incredibly fast and dont seem like the best bang for the buck.

Leaving work now to get Yokohama S Drives put on. I got 24.5K miles on the OE Bridgestones and they are shot. I'll be getting 255/40/19 F and 275/30/19 R.

I just checked Tire Rack for the Sport and the Potenza replacemens are 243 EACH for the Front and 281 each fot the back.

Also, I have found some local places will match Tire Rack prices if you show them the prices. Most garages will charge you more to put on tires you that you drop ship from TireRack.com and other 3rd party tire sales shops.

Doesn't anybody drive their cars here? I've got over 27,000 miles on original tires, and they're still OK. Getting a little noisey, but we've got a great stereo to drown tire noise out. I'm figguring 35,000 miles, tops. I got lowered at Eibach, and am still waiting on their alignment and camber kits, so that might cut a few miles off my expectations.

i just got my g37s so i barely have 1k miles on it, but i voted for 20k+ because thats how it was for my g35, on stock potenzas..although apparently my dealer said it was "a hazard on the road"

On my last 3 cars with Potenza, I got 8k twice and 10k once. These are on the back tires as all my cars are RWD.

I am expecting to get 8 - 10k on my Potenzas.

What drives me crazy about this is that the stock tire size basically gives you only the crap potenzas as a replacement choice.

I'm afraid to go to a wider tire all around (to give myself more options) because I think the car will ride differently and be noisy with all that extra rubber rolling on the ground.

I guess I'll have to get another set of potenzas and hope the tire manufacturers start making tires in these sizes.... *sigh*

Oh... 15k and they are pretty much shot. They have tread on them and grip well but they are loud as hell and unpleasant.

Well I got 25K out of mine. There is a little bit of usable tread on the fronts (maybe 4/32) , the rears are between 2 and 3/32. I'm dropped on Tanabe NF210 for the last few thousand miles with no alignment and I noticed a little bit of camber wear on the inner edge of the rears but not too bad. I got the Yokos (see post #33) last week and they're great. Even with the wider tread and shorter sidewall, they ride really well and they are not noisy at all. Certainly not as bad as the hellacious noise the OE Potenzas made when they were worn down. I bought them at tirerack.com for about $900 or so and had them mounted and balance at NTB for $85.

I noticed Tire Rack had ZERO recommendations other than the OEM..

I notice some people are getting 15 - 25k out of those tires but I wont. Also, some people will drive on tires worn out more than me. I dont take chances on tires. Once they are worn out, they are being replaced.

I am just going to have to check around and see what other tires are made for the G37S. Potenza are good tires but dont last long. I can always find quieter W-rated (189 mph +), that grip the same, and last longer than the Potenzas for usually about 20% less. I am not going to buy a cheap brand but all Potenzas are marked up since they are stock tires on so many sports cars.

From post #23:
"the steering feels looser and the car feels floaty... "

That's what scares me off of changing the tire sizes.
