Lowering Spring Options, Recommendations Please

I bought a G37 Sedan Sport 6MT about a month ago. The car came with H&R lowering springs installed, I don’t know anything more than that and I haven’t lifted the car up to do any digging or find a product number to cross reference.

I am looking to go a bit higher than the current ride height, I have read ebaich is a little higher than the h&r’s but I haven’t been able to come to a conclusion just yet. So far I have seen h&r, ebaich, swift and tein make springs. Ideally i want another inch of ground clearance and to run a bit meatier tire maybe an extra 20mm wide all around.

My problem is I live in new york and the road are really not good, the car winds up scraping on a lot of stuff. I know if i were to be more careful as I drive it would prevent that, but i didnt buy this car for it to be low and semi annoying. This is not the lowest car I have had my 240 used to be a lot lower, but that was a whole different time and place and I have moved away from that all together. Also as it sits right now my 240 in the photos has more ground clearance than the g37.

If it really comes down to it id buy a set of coils, id probably go with a set of teins if I do that, but id prefer not to currently.

I’d suggest considering some spring spacers to lift the ride height slightly. Or possibly removing the lowering springs altogether.

I have seen people mention spring spacers, but i’m not sure exactly what I am looking for. Maybe you can send me a link. I am going to assume spring spacers are going to wind up preloading the springs and consequently make for a harsher ride over bumps. If there was a top hat spacer that would probably be a better solution, but i’m not seeing those around for this car.

Also known as a "coil spring booster". Not a whole lot about them on the forum here. Most people drop. Few drop and then lift back up again.

I was in a similar situation some years back, discontent with the rear height of Swift Springs on the RWD Sedan. I went the route you're referencing, with a top-hat spacer. It only worked for a few days, until the weight of the car crushed the spacer and put me back at square one. My eventual solution was to use Tein Basis coilovers in the rear.

It looks like front top hat spacers in steel or aluminum is available but i’m not seeing anything for the rear. I guess the solution would be a spring spacer in the back. But with what you mentioned sounds like its a very short term solution unless I could find them in steel / aluminum.

seems like for the cost of spacers, and time spend installing Id be better off buying the tein flex z for $800 ish and sell the springs and oem struts as a package to someone else.

No joke...I went with the 80 dollar ebay springs, and they're awesome for the money. Sweet drop, and ride feels just like stock. I've had them on for a little over half a year now. Not a single issue.
