Exclamation Brake Questions from a Noob

Hello,

Dealership said I should change the rear brake pads ASAP since the pads are at 3MM. This was several months back, granted I mainly work remote so don't drive the car too far. However, now it is at a point that when I brake it feels weird and think it is time to replace the rears. I have a 2013 G37X Sedan @ 50k miles, bone stock and I know the previous owner had turned the rotors before at 30k from the dealer.

Think I should get new rotors or just replace the pads? I just want to fix what I need to and wanted to do it on my own not to save money but more to know it was done right and to learn more about cars. I think it would be a fun project although bit scary. Questions:

1. What are the proper size for the rotors front and back? Centric Premium seem to have a good rep. I hear StopTech's are much better, if so why? I don't take the car to the track but would it help brake better on normal street use?
2. I am debating between Akebono or Hawk 5.0 for the brake pads. If I go with the Akebono, I noticed there are two pads, one with stainless hardware and one without. Which should I get? ACT905 Vs. ACT905A.
3. Should I get a brake kit, if so which exact one on Rockauto?
4. Is there any other parts or screws I should replace at 50k? The car originally came from NYC so not sure if it was driven in the winters where things may get rusted and such?
5. I see posts about Akebono BBK. What exactly is that and why would someone want to do it? It seems like an upgraded braking system? Is that more for looks or track usage? Trying to see if worth doing this for my stock car for daily driver and on a semi budget.

Thank You!

1) There is a stickied thread in this here brake/suspension forum thread explaining rotor sizes for the various models.
2) The Hawks dust more than the OE (Akebono) pads. Both are equivalent on the street, Hawk if you intend to try HPDE. You can re-use the shims, so save some money.
3) I'd suggest the kit since you'll be needing to clean the slide pins.
4) Probably not.
5) Akebonos are the brakes found on G37S models. Aluminum four-piston calipers up front, two-piston calipers in the rear. Base G37 come with iron two-piston calipers up front and single-piston calipers rear. Akebonos are somewhat better than the low-end brakes, but not by much. If you intend to run HPDE, Akebono upgrade is recommended.

Thank you for answering so quickly and being so helpful. I forgot to mention I did look at the sticky for question #1 but it was not clear which brakes to use for the 2013 G37X Sedan, I see for coupes and the XS model of cars but not normal X Sedan. Hence wanted to be sure with this post.

Also, is there a brand or particular hardware kit you suggest to order from Rockauto that fits my car? I just want to be sure as I have the worst luck with ordering wrong parts over the years. Thanks again for helping noob like me.

Also, is there a particular brake fluid people suggest? Or should I be Ok with any Synthetic Dot 3 fluid?

Fixed. Thanks for pointing that out.

A lot of folks here have expressed satisfaction with Centric and Stop Tech. Any brand of fluid that meets the requirement listed in your owner's manual works for a street car. Just change it every three years using new bottles of fluid.
