Brake Judder

Hello everyone, it seems my 2012 G37xS has been plagued by the dreaded, “Infiniti Brake Judder.” I bought the car with 52,000 miles on it and I’ve only put on 14,000 in the 2 years since I’ve owned the car. Apparently the car had a full brake service from the dealership before I bought it. Ideally, I am just looking for some feedback on what people have done to fix this issue, I’ve heard differing opinions from new slotted and drilled rotors to keep heat down and minimize pad deposits, changing to different pads such as Hawk hp 5.0’s, or even replacing the stock caliper pins with new ones found in a hardware kit. Thank you in advance, and I cannot wait to get my “G” back and braking smoothly without that dreaded judder.

PS. Car has the upgraded performance brake packages with 4 piston front calipers

Hawk pads are good when they warm up I'd run akebono stoptech or ebc pads. Stoptech sells a complete pad slotted rotor kit for under 500 for front and rear.

Try the Italian brake tune-up before spending any money.

I am curious, what does the Italian brake tune-up entail?

Bedding in your brakes. Do six hard stops from highway speeds, though don't actually come to a complete stop, let off at about fifteen mph and accelerate again. This will scrub off the uneven pad deposits on the rotors that cause judder.

What I usually do is go on a long stretch of road, where there is no traffic, mainly late nights. I do 65 mph then brake hard, but not to hard where the ABS will kick in to 10 mph, and I do this about 10 times, then do 45 mph- 5 mph brake 10 times also. After that I drive around for 10 minute and let the brakes cool off. After doing those stops, do not come to a complete stop, if anything come to a stop and put your hand brake on, if you are at a stop light or something. Also at times not having your lug nuts torqued correctly will cause vibration, has happened to me before. If anything order some new rotors, and get your old ones turned, so that next time your brakes vibrate again when stopping you can throw on the old ones on, and get the new ones turned.

Update on this thread, tried brake bedding and I believe it solved the issue, had a few hard stops recently at night (lots of deer in my area) and those pad deposits may have built up causing the judder, did 5 hard 60-10 stops and let the brakes cool before coming to a complete stop, and I no longer have any signs of judder, thank you so much 👍🏼👍🏼

You can perform the Italian Tune-up as often as necessary, at least as long as you have meat on the pads.
