On my last trip to infiniti dealership, I was advised to have my rear brake pads changed.
they were asking 300$ to do that so I opt not to do it at the dealership. hence I created this thread to ask you guys, should I get factory brake pads or any aftermarket ? what you guys are using ?
besides that, can I put infiniti sports calipers in my non-sports sedan ?

Stoptech Street Pads are very good and can be found on Amazon for a nice price. Also check w/ site vendor KNSbrakes for good deals on all brake items.

For the big Akebono sport calipers you'll need the whole kit which is rotors, calipers, brake lines and caliper hardware. And you'll need a new spare tire that will clear the bigger caliper and new wheels that clear them too.

I'd recommend: Centric Posi-Quiet pads. No noise ever! Better than OE braking with lower dust, easy on rotors, and they last pretty long. Comes with shims & hardware and they're affordable. I did em front and rear and no issues in 12k miles with lots of pad left.

I've been a big fan of Hawk pads for some time now.
Currently running the Hawk Performance Ceramics, but have also had good luck with the Hawk HPS pads as well (more dust with those).

now all of these brands show several part numbers / models. any specific model number should i get ? I am confused because of price range among these pads. they vary from $30 to $90, especially hawk's pads.

rockauto.com is a great site for aftermarket quality parts.

Akebono ProAct pads are great, OEM quality. Centric pads are good too. the OEM pad material is ceramic, but some guys go for semi-metallic which is a more euro-spec blend.

do some research and figure out which pad material suits your needs best. you can also check by going to the part manufacturers website. that will list suitable products for your vehicle.

expect to spend $30-$50 for a complete set of rear pads. installing just pads is no more difficult then removing your wheels. you'll be done in 1hr total, including wheel re+re. so instead of $300 + tax/fees at the dealer, you're done for $50 tops.

if you want to do rotors at the same time that will run another ~$100.

I agree with canucklehead regards to rockauto.com. They have great customer service and their prices are low when compared with others.
