So one day on the freeway, hit a pretty good size rock!! yes rock in the middle of the freeway.
Visually I can see so far:
1) engine subframe undertray damaged
2) O2 sensor plug was damaged
3) undercarriage plastic panel ripped.
Now the question is.. with the sub frame damage, shall I replace it? Ive heard 1) don't worry about it, its not going to any further damage 2) drill a hole at the end of the crack to stop further cracking 3) change it.
What do you all think?
Thanks,
Eddie =)

I'd be concerned about it being bent/twisted in ways that are not readily apparent which may affect other components.
maybe welding it may be an option too?
you can probably get replacement pretty check form ebay/ a wrecking yard, the greater cost will probably be in the labour, I dont really know what involved with getting the RWD front subframe off.
isn't this what auto insurance is for? since you ran over the giant rock, under insurance rules and guidelines it is considered a collision. just pay the deductible and have the body shop replace the subframe, o2 sensor, and undercarriage panel. btw i have never heard of anyone welding cast aluminum so don't go that route unless you are willing to face some more boo boos.
yea, I am looking into fixing it. I saw that people selling that metal piece called "front suspension subframe stay assy" like this ( https://www.ebay.com/i/152643812435?chn=psfor ) about $60/70 which isn't the problem. I guess what I am wondering is what's behind that piece? Is there anything attached to it or is it just a metal piece the body shop could just bold on/off OR do they need to take off the entire chunk of parts behind it?
Any clue?

Did you hit a rock that was stationary or a rock that was moving across the road? Stationary = collision, moving = comprehensive. Info from my insurance agent. Saved me a bundle when the exhaust pipe got crushed.
It was a rock in the middle of the freeway in the middle of a lane, def a moving rock cuz it was gone the next hr. Probably some debris that was left behind from the freeway re-pavement the night prior.
