Can Lowering Break Swaybar Connecting Rods?

I'm collecting the components needed to reliably and functionally lower my G37xSC.

I've read some anecdotal comments that lowering the G, and possibly adding stiffer sways, can cause the OEM connecting rods to break.

Is this common? likely?
Is it something that happens mostly to extreme drops? Or how low of a drop is likely to cause a problem?
Do I have to pony-up for beefier SPL end links?

Tnx.

I can't see how lowering would break the end links of the sway bars. Maybe in a car that's almost slammed, I can see them being stressed enough that they'll wear out quickly but I can't picture them breaking. Do you have a link to where you read that?

Some have reported endlinks breaking. Can they? Yes. More than like theyll wear out alot faster due to incorrect geometry. Go with an adjustable link to kee the sway in it optimal position.

I have to search a bit. the comments were wrapped in other conversations and I've been reading researching lots, and lots of different things so it's starting to blur a bit.

Detail's comments here suggested stiffer sways can contribute to it on Sedans (I have a Coupe)

I've also read somewhere on this forum it can happen after lowering... (Gotta look that up again)

I just now read this thread Here from *ICE* that says it can happen when the sway makes contact with the toe rod. That seems reasonable but I'm not entirely sure the contact marks they show, came before or AFTER the end link broke loose.

So I'm just asking if anyone knows for sure if it is common, likely, is aftermarket equip required, is it caused by drops or stiffer sways or a combination of both???

Common to break no. Common to go bad after lowering is very likley now if they go bad and are metal on metal theyll probably snapped if not changed out.

I see.

Is this the way to adjust them?

I put the coilover and adjusted the endlink so that it was a couple mm short of fitting, then lifted the hub and slipped it in... Gotta keep a little tension on them.

I just put some Stance coils and camber arms over the weekend and my car is pretty low. I started hearing a bad clunking noise coming from the front passenger side and I am thinking it is the sway bar end link but I will take a look and get back to you to see what the problem is.

Please do, Tnx!
Hopefully it is just a loose connection.

Remove the sway bar and try to replicate the noise...either way you narrowed down the problem.
