Help Needed. Brake Change/Leak
Help Needed. Brake Change/Leak
Hopefully someone can help me out. Yesterday I started the process of changing all four of my brake pads. On the first caliper I made the mistake of loosening the four bolts inside the caliper, once oil started to somewhat leak out I tightened them back up and the caliper was never fully open.
Once I figured out how to properly change the pads I finished the job but when I tried to start the car and push down on the brake pedal there was hardly any pressure and the brake pedal is now spongy.
Now I understand that once the the seal is broken on any caliper they have to be replaced but the question is did any of the actual seals break or could the fluid have come from somewhere else? Is the problem with the brakes due to the seal being broken or does the system need to be flushed properly.
Thanks

Yep, brakes need to be fully bled out, and if your fluid got too low in the Master Cylinder, then it will take a lot more time. When you bleed the brakes you need to do so in the following order~
passenger rear, driver front, driver rear then lastly passenger front.
If you needed new pads and you've never completely flushed out your brake fluid now would be a good time to do it.
