4 wheel alignment needed after struts change

My driver side strut is leaking. Car is a G37S coupe with about 42,000 miles.

I plan on changing both front struts.

Is a four wheel alignment recommended/required after the struts change?

Thanks.

In short, yes. Anytime you make changes like that a 4 wheel alignment is necesssary to make sure that the suspension is set to spec. If not, the car may not track true and the result could be dangerous.

While replacing the struts in the front, what is the condition of the rear struts? With 42k on the clock, you should consider the two rears at the same time. Those struts are likely on their way out, given the mileage. Doing all four, while more expensive, will ensure that all of the wheels are reacting to steering inputs and road conditions in the same manner. Look at it this way, you'll only have to pay for one 4 wheel alignment.

Good Luck

42k is too soon to wear the shocks out unless you do a lot of dune bashing.

If you're going to replace them anyways, go aftermarket.

Recommend, yes. Required, no.

I'm with G37Sam in that I'd look into aftermarket dampers, such as Konis. And chairman makes a good point on replacing the rears as well for balanced ride/handling.

Konis are the bomb, very pricy but well worth it.

Rear struts are fine. Dry as a bone.

I leaking front driver strut is a slow leak. I did the bounce test on all four corners of the car and it passed. I will look into replacing all four corners. The KYB struts are about $136 for one for the front. I will check out koni as well thanks.
