Need help with rear Fortune Auto 500 shock/spring install
They are slightly less than that with the Swift upgrade right now.
I am waiting to figure out what the deal with the Fortune 550's before I pull the trigger on the 500's. In the little I have read about the 550's they supposedly provide an even less harsh ride than the 500's. Assuming they work for the X, and are reasonably priced I will buy those instead of the 500's. Just waiting to hear back from Luke as I pm'd him over the weekend.
I am ready to make a huge order (to me) of the fortune's with swift, and rear extenders, hotchkiss, and camber kits. I am hopefully putting my wheels on this week so I would like to order everything else soon so I can get it dropped before the end of March. Summer is almost here, and I need everything in place before then.

Information on the Fortune Auto 550? I can almost guarantee they won't be made for the X platform for a year or two - depending on their release. The demand for the X platform isn't there compared to RWD models (which work on a wide variety of vehicles)
I just did a search for pictures of other sedan owners on coilovers who use the rear extenders. There were only a few threads that came up on the search. The two that had pictures were from 2010 and 2011 and the picture links were dead. Since it is technically still related to the topic of this thread, I figured I'd ask if anyone has any information here. I received the extenders last Friday but I still am waiting on the 8" Swift springs. I'd love to add the extenders the same day that I swap out the springs.
I have read that there is some drilling involved to make the extenders work. Does anyone have any pictures of where the drilling needs to be done? While I am certain that I could figure it out on my own, I'm a visual person and prefer to see what I'm doing before I actually jump in and do it.
Also, since you guys have been incredible with helping to this point, I'd like to ask some questions regarding the rear shock as it relates to ride quality. I understand, thanks to you guys here, that the spring is what sets the ride height. That I've got down now with the 8" springs coming in. But would someone explain to me how adjusting the shock itself relates to ride quality? I have an idea but would appreciate someone explaining in detail. And, since the two are related, how does the dampening adjustment relate to the shock adjustment?
Again, I've got an idea of how it all works based on a lot of reading and talking with other guys who have a lot more experience than I do, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to have all of the information in one thread. Hopefully it will just confirm what I already know but I also would like to know if there is some information that I don't know that could help me learn more.
Thanks in advance!
Jeremy

I keep forgetting about the G35 forum. I found a great thread over there that goes into some detail with pictures. DIY: Coilover Install - G35Driver
I'm still interested in information on the shocks/dampening stuff though.

I could be wrong but I think with the sedans you can get away with just routing the extenders behind the seats and you don't need to drill out on the bottom. With the coupes you need to make holes.
Dropped my car off today to have my FA500's installed and SPL kits installed..missing a rear spring perch/gasket on one of the rear springs...on the phone tomorrow with FA as i am west coast and they were closed by the time i found all this out.
Ugh! I feel for you. One damn gasket. They've been above and beyond great to work with for me. I'd be very surprised if they are any different for you.
So the replacement 8" springs came in on Tuesday but I couldn't swap them out until yesterday afternoon/evening. I am much happier having some room to adjust up and still have what I think is a safe amount of spring on the upper mount. For me, the 8" springs were definitely the right choice.
Since I wanted to bring the car up about .25 to .50 inch higher, I adjusted the upper mount up by 8 full turns (or .50 inch). So the springs raised me by an inch and then I lowered by .50 inch. That gave me a .50 inch lift from where they were sitting previously. I should have taken a picture before I did this just to update the thread but the 7" springs ended up settling a good bit. That's why I went up .50 inch. They should settle down to just about where I wanted to end up to begin with. I'll take a picture today at some point and update this post to show the new ride height.
I didn't have the time to install the extenders yesterday so I'll have to pull the shock at least one more time to do that, but even though I think the price is a bit much for what they are, the extenders are going to be well worth not having to take the shocks out every time I need/want to adjust them.
Also, I found out what the clacking noise was that was coming from my right rear. The top spring mount locking nut was loose. Once I tightened it up after adjusting it, the sound went away. Thankfully!!!

My planned mods for 2015 are CAI, HFC, CBE...possibly Intake Manifold too.
After that, I may look at wheels and lowering. That being said, if the right deal comes along on wheels, they could be much earlier.
Well, looks like I posted too soon on the right rear noise. It is back. Not sure what it could be now. I'll have to check that locking nut to see if it has come loose again. I thought I tightened them up well enough but who knows. I am very happy with this set. The fact that FA worked with me on the springs as professionally as they did just makes it that much better. "Going above and beyond" is such a cliche but they certainly did for me.
I'll definitely post some pictures and findings on the extenders when I make the time to do it.

Glad to hear that worked out for you. I'm pumped to get mine in the next week hopefully. Without this thread I would have had the 7 inch rears coming. I would much rather have the lowering range that the 8 inch spring allows. Hopefully you get that noise figured out.
