Akebono brake pad replacement

The local Infiniti dealership is running a special on brake replacement. $229/axle to replace pads and turn rotors. New pads/rotor $399./axle. Is this a good price?

Pads cost about $50 and the rest of the $229 is labor, so $179 left for labor is high to me, but I DIY my brakes so it's probably in the ballpark of a fair price. An additional $170 for new rotors is also not outrageous. If you can't or don't want to DIY it's not unreasonable IMO. Be sure it includes a full fluid change (it should but never hurts to double check).

My bbk cost me $1800. Akebonos, pads, stoptech rotors, braided SS lines, shipping.... Take away cost of shipping and brake lines the total cost was $397/wheel. Just some numbers for you to reference. I DIY so no labor.

Thanks guys, I think I'll diy over the winter. What pads and rotors should I purchase? As long as I'm doing this I might as well replace the lines to SS also.

I used a complete kit from Concept Z Performance. They have an "a la carte" kit for our G's. You can pick and choose the equipment you want to buy. I used StopTech slotted rotors and NISMO pads. The SS brake lines are an option as well as every other part of the kit. The base kit will run you around $1500 if I remember right.

I have judder/vibration when I brake. I'm thinking that the rotors are warped. If I were to purchase the Stop Tech slotted rotors, this probably would go away. The rotors were turned and new pads 12K miles ago at the dealer.

Anyone have a link to a site where you can buy OEM pads and rotors? Most links on old posts are now expired.

^Have you had problems with the oem brakes? I believe that several people have, that's why they have gone to aftermarket rotors. There are several online Infiniti parts sites, just Google them and you see. One I believe is InfinitiUSA

I was abusing my driving privilege and warped my rotors. I had 55K miles on my car and the dealership couldn't turn the rotors due to them being to thin. I then decided to go with the BBK from Concept Z Performance. Check out their web site. They have reasonable prices.

A little squeel in reverse for the first month or so. I haven't heard a peep out of them since. I have heard others say the same about slotted rotors before so I don't think it was an issue.
