Infiniti agreed to pay all but $900 of the $2100 repair. So I take the car in Tuesday for a rack replacement and front end alignment.

I have the same problem

Hi, Is the Rack and Pinion Bellow Kit enough to repair the minor leak?

I've had very good results with Valvoline MaxLife Multi-Vehicle ATF with slowing a leak way down in my other car with a rack and pinion leak. Topping off every few weeks is better than paying for a new rack and pinion out of pocket.

Iv'e started to get the same issues. Noticeably harder to turn at lower speeds, feels loose at higher speeds. Makes a horrid squealing noise when trying to turn at low speeds. My fluid is getting lost pretty fast too. I looked around, and got estimates. Racks are $300-400 from most places, like you posted Car ID, etc. I sourced mine from Autozone and O'rileys, about the same price. Infiniti wants $1,550...it's a no brainer to where I'm getting my part from. Was quoted $150 for install. Avoid getting new OEM as it seems that their only intentions are to drain your wallet.

What's the name of the place that's going to replace a rack and pinion for only $150? https://www.yourmechanic.com $220 if you supply the parts.

I personally had my friend do it for a pack of beer and dinner. I called around before hand, Christian Brothers quoted me $150 if I provided parts. Hell Belle tire said they'd do it for $165. I guess labor prices change between regions

[QUOTE=Mike45;3781112

Edit:by the way make sure your new rack has RAS if your car came with it.[/QUOTE]

The rack an pinion on a RWD g37 and G25 is the the same across ALL trims, the difference is in the tie-rods. You see most of the racks you'll see online come with tie-rods, NO ONE sells them without tie-rods hence why part numbers differ.
After doing extensive research you'll see that the part numbers for the rack alone without tie-rods are all the same. The sport "quick steering" tie-rods are shorter.

This opens the range of options as you can find BASE racks for cheaper just make sure you buy sport tie-rods or re-use your old ones.

And I was referring to the OP.

In your case any X rack will fit, make sure you keep your inner and outer tie-rods to compare.

Hey @mummy2 , you mean the transmission fluid version of Valvoline rather than the power steering fluid? Was there a reason you didn't use Valvoline's
Amazon Amazon
specifically for power steering? I've heard ATF fluid has more additives chemicals etc and can be used, but wondering if you had specific experience or reason.

On the G37 you have to use ATF. It states it on the cap.

My Volvo uses ATF for power steering fluid.
