Sport Brakes squeak in Reverse

Hey Everyone

I'm collecting data for my dealership to determine the commonality of the break squeak that comes while in reverse. They've seen it and customers have asked what can be done and the dealership doesn't feel infiniti is actively doing anything about besides saying "all vehicles, normal characteristics"

I find it a little annoying.. I have parking garages that resonate the sound too... It's a hollow noise and not indicative of a pad wear issue... and I felt a rebuild did subside the noise for a little bit only for it to return... I don't feel that after 1 year of ownership break squeal in reverse is EVER normal vehicle characteristics. I mean nissan/infiniti are already being looked at for having low initial vehicle quality by JD powers, so maybe they'll take data seriously.

so I'll break it up into sport akebonos/ normal and 7AT and 6spd... I have a feeling this it might be limited to sport 7AT vehicles after about 15 months of ownership. Personally, I've had everything inspected. and my systems are fine (rotors are flush, pads are brand new) and yet they squeak.

please indicate coupe or sedan as well.

Thanks Everyone!

and this is when you're applying the brakes in reverse?

so when I first went in, this is what my tech found:

"Squealing noise was found while in reverse even without applying brake pressure. Found misadjusted rear parking brakes shoes and excessive dust accumulation. at time my pad ware was 5 mm (of 6)"

so after re-adjusting the brake shoe, the sound went away for like 2 months. and now it's back, but it's much less than before... Before It was every second while in reverse... now it's just a short chirp when you are coming off the brake.

hmmm sooo those with the 07-08 5AT go ahead and using for the 7AT non-sport.

those sport brakes (unless they're akebonos) are the same as the non sport brakes.

I voted for "no, sedan". I have an '07 with the Ake's retrofitted. No issues whatsoever on the OEM pads.

I actually would say yes and no... My 2005 E55 AMG has no such reverse sounds...

the fact that it's annoying and doesn't happen during the first year and still happens despite pad replacement is a factory issue.

I mean I'm in an area with a lot of nice cars... and squeaking when I "ain't" going anywhere in my infiniti isn't cool for me... it's not cool for the brand. IMHO

I have an 09 6mt Coupe and I squeak every single time in reverse (loud). Makes it look like we can afford a 40k car but can't afford to have the breaks taken care of.

mine did when i would reverse; eventually it became all the time. took it to the dealer three times for the same issue because it would come back soon after they leveled the and cleaned the rotors. got my brakes changed at the third time under warranty. i knew i would get them to if i kept bugging and did. try doing that. have not gotten the squeaking noise since.

yeah there seems to be either batch issue, or something because once you do the part replacement... the noise goes away... Mine has been corrected... but it def got better.

i mean it sounds like there is a solution to this... Just have to get infiniti to offer it so dealerships can actively address the issues with the replacement of parts... and not bandaid it..
