My steering rack is leaking on both sides and needs to be replaced. The dealership says they've changed the part, and the new one requires also swapping out the tie rods and some other bits and it's about $3k with tax. I asked about the old part, which they insist they can't get, so I told them to put it back together because I don't have $3k right now...

I'm trying to find the old part number so I can order the old rack myself and take it to another shop to get installed. I am not seeing old/new versions of the part, so I want to be sure I'm getting the right one.

Can anyone confirm that Rock Auto part 36R1213 will be a direct replacement for the rack on my car (2009 X Coupe)? https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...nd+pinion,7388

Or does anyone have a better place to get a replacement rack from?
