Coil overs or Springs your experience to lower a 2012 X coupe

I am sure it was asked and I am sure each of you have an opinion. I am looking for evidence and experience to back your advice.
Swift springs for my coupe , although I haven't found definitive proof they are made for the coupe..or
Coil overs as the front and back will need to be lowered by a slightly different amount anyway.

Experience in:
Cost, manufacturer, install ease, cost of install, look, performance expectation, ancillary items to purchase and consider..

Thank you in advance for your constructive responses.

For the X coupe, my vote is springs. I had Eibachs and was pretty happy with them, didn't get the front quite low enough for me but they were good. I switched over to BC Racing coilovers, and quite honestly, got what I paid for. I was on my 3rd rear shock absorber with a knock before I took them off to sell the car. Unfortunately, they're pretty much the best available option for coilovers on an X coupe.

Options are limited for the X, if I recall correctly. I bought the Eibach Pro-Kit springs (P/N 6394.140) for my 2011 X non-sport coupe. They were alright I guess. The price was decent (authorized reseller), installation cost at a local shop was about the same as the parts. Parts and labor to install just the springs and no alignment kit was around $500 total, give or take. But you get what you pay for. I can feel the difference now that I have KW coilovers on my IPL. My current car is lower with KW coilovers than my X was on Eibach springs, but the ride quality is much better than before. Maybe because I had non-sport shocks with the springs, but there are some bumps on my usual route that used to be absolutely dreadful in the X that are fine now. Either way, you'll want to look into an alignment kit, especially for the rear. My fronts were alright, but my rear camber was maxxed to get the toe back within spec.

So far I hear that I should consider KW co Ilovers rather than Eibach coilovers or springs or even Just springs AND that I should consider an upgrade on the shocks when the coilovers go in?

I have an assumption that the coilovers replace my struts and springs..is that correct?

I was just using my current coilover setup as a comparison of coilovers vs springs. I don't think you can get KW for the X platform. As nukee said above, you might have to go with BC. Coilovers will replace your springs and shocks though. Springs are just springs.

okay, thank you.

as I am just learning this stuff, I can now see and correct me, that the BC coilovers will be my Strut, spring and shock all in one, yes?

is this a good picture of what we have?

That pic is similar to our front setup and yes the coilover will be basically the same setup in the front. The rear you have a separate spring that mounts into the lower control arm aka "spring bucket", and an upper spring cup. You then have a separate shock.

Coilovers are available for the OEM type setup or the "true coilover" which mimics the front single "all-in-one" unit.

Unfortunately there's not much to choose from for the AWD, I know Megan Racing & BC both offer X coilovers and both are similar in construction, price & quality. I have Megan LP coils and haven't had any issues and have been a much better performer than my previous lowering springs. There was a new AMR coilover for the X but the seller of those units has had some issues
