Question about switching to bigger brakes!!

Hi my name is Lisa , I just bought my G this past March and I will need to replace the brakes on my 2009, Infiniti, g37x coupe, very soon. I have just the regular stock brakes that come on the car right now. I was wondering if I could put the bigger "infinity" brakes from the G37 coupe sport on my car. Not sure what the specs are for them. I just know I like the look of them with the bigger rotors and the silver Infiniti branded calipers. Would they fit my car and the stock 18", 5 spoke wheels? Could really use some expertise here, as I live in a really small town with the closest Infinity dealership being 8 hours away, and no real reliable shops around. So someone please HELP!!

Welcome!

The kit you're looking for is the Big Brake Kit, you can buy it as a set for 1800 (maybe?) from the FS section. Some of the vendors carry it, it'll include the larger calipers, rotors, and all the hardware.

I don't think your stock 18" wheels will clear the big brake kit, so you may need to replace them. A little research around the forum will yield plenty of answers and save you a lot of flak from the other members.

Hi. Unfortunately, they don't fit. I have the 2012 g37s with the sport 19's and the big brakes and wanted to wheel shop to loan me a replacement set of rims while they were powder coating my original rims. They had a set of g37x 18's and it rubbed against my break calipers.

I would advise you to not waste your money honestly...unless you are going to track your car or road race/autox i dont see a point in it. You would need:

-Sport calipers
-sport rotors
-sport pads
-ss braided brake line
-2 oem mounting bolts/washers for the sport calipers for each caliper (per caliper so you need a total of 8 bolts/8 washers)
-Wheels with the correct offset that will fit these calipers
-make sure to find a service shop that knows how to bleed opposing piston style calipers
-if the above does not apply because you do work yourself then you would need to know how to bleed opposing piston style calipers/compress teh pistons to do brake pad changes.

overall its not cheap to do the swap you are looking at an EASY 2k or more and for regular daily driving its really not worth it. This of course does not apply if you are solely doing this for looks, if that's the case then what evs.

You"ll also need a new spare tire/wheel that will clear the bigger brakes so another $250 give or take

+1 to what has been said, I'd recommend buying larger aftermarket rotors and maybe painting your calipers, it's a good compromise at a low cost.

Welcome to the forums! Post pics of your G

Welcome to the forums. I'd say do it if you really want it! Tons of guys do it on here all the time. Nothing beats nice big rotors/calipers.

Im interested in doing this in the future. Would it be as simple as swapping out the old rotors for bigger rotors or would it also involve other work?

Interested in finding this out too. Would love to get some slotted rotors and get rid of my rusted out looking X rotors

Don't think you can go larger on the rotors without going to custom brackets, but a rotor upgrade is certainly an easy DIY.

I would love to see a DIY on this.
Any idea on how much custom brackets would cost?

I know that Baer decela-rotors usually come with the brackets needed.

You probably have to add wheel spacers or larger wheels to fit them though 18"s+

Unless you are also planning to move to a larger wheel you might be better off just doing an upgrade to Brembo or somethingb similar.

If you want the full Infiniti set-up you'd be better off just getting a car originally equipped with it.
