Suspension Noise - What might it be?
Hello everyone. I'll start by stating my current setup.
- 2008 G37S Coupe w/ BC Racing coilovers, SPC camber kits front and rear, stock 19" wheels with 20mm spacers all around. No rubbing issues or anything like that. Coilovers have about 20k miles on them as well.
To start, a few weeks ago I noticed that I would hear a small "suspension rattle" whenever going 3mph or less over small bumps in the road. The noise seemed to be coming from the passenger front of the car. I had my mechanic lift the car and double check all bolts and nothing shows to be loose and the front coilover seems good.
I have noticed over the last day that the small noise is still present, but after driving 30+ the rattle gets way worse and sounds like its coming from the passenger side front/middle/rear all at the same time. Again I only hear it at very slow speeds.
Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated. The noise is driving me crazy.
Thanks in advance.

- Check that the front camber arm bolts are tight, these are often overlooked
- Check that the spring perches are tight and there is at least 0 preload on the springs
- Check the endlinks are still good
- It could also be the dampers are worn

I will be sure and triple check the ideas you mentioned. Any thought as to why the rattle would be worse after driving for 30 minutes or so?
Thanks for any and all replies!
(Keep in mind that Infiniti may have changed the design of this shield from 2008 to 2010. But if they didn't, this should fix your rattling sound)
I had the exact same issue you described (at least it sounds the same) a few weeks ago with my 2010 G37 Sedan. Going over rough(er) roads at slow speeds made it sound like something in the front end (passenger side specifically) was loose. I took it to the local dealership, and they searched around for a while and then finally figured out what it was. . . There is a thin metal shield that surrouds the brake rotor, and the mechanic figured out that it had been bent in and was catching the rotor. He simply bent it back out a little, and the rattle went away immediately.
Its an easy fix and anyone can do it if you just take the wheel off. All you should need is a pair of needle-nose pliers to grab the shield and bend it out.
