Dropping.

I am new to this and trying to get as much information as possible. I searched the forums and don't see a lot of base coupes. What is best to go with? I understand coilovers can be adjusted to what I want but with springs it is basically set. Any information would be great!

Depends what you're looking for. Coilovers give you full adjustment, dampening and ride height. Springs are one and done. Different brands will give you different drops and ride comfort. Theres plenty of information on here about the different brands of springs.

Base coupe will do the same thing as a sport or Journey model as far as lowering. Any information on the forum about lowering a coupe will apply to you so long as its not specific to the X (AWD) models.

depends how low you wnat your car, usually springs arent designed to drop your car that much and thats when you would go for coilovers

if you decide to go the spring route, heres a link of how springs look on coupes

The nice thing about coilovers is that the springs and struts are matched. The only true option you have for aftermarket performance struts/shocks (for the G) are Koni paired with your choice of springs. Though Koni is a high quality part, it is limited in that it has to have universal valving to match with any given spring. Coilover struts and springs do a much better job of working together for the best function, whether it's stiffness on the track or ride quality for a DD.

By the time you get a set of Konis and a set of springs, you'll already be up to about $1K in parts (assuming you buy new). Save up a few hundred more for a quality KWv1 (height adjustable only) (or KWv3 for about $1600) or get a set of Tanabes (height adjustable only)for under $1K shipped.
