Shocks

What aftermarket shocks will soften the ride on a 2012 G37S without giving up much handling?

Sounds like you got a car for 10% of you driving needs and not the other 90%. I also wanted a S, but realized that I would not be happy with the ride unless it was "play time" on Angeles Crest Highway. Shocks might help, but it is also is the springs and sway bars and the shocks will probably make the least difference. the Hope you find something that works.

^^I disagree, while springs that are too stiff/too soft will affect ride quality, it is still the shocks that mostly control transient suspension travel.

The OP doesn't say where's at, but roads here in chicago are pretty bad. Other than a few rattles here and there, and slowing down for rail road tracks (some almost to a crawl), I really don't see a problem with the S suspension. While test driving, I found the X (which most dealers had way too many of around here) to be on the extremely soft side. The S was better, but still needed help in controlling body roll.

Perhaps rather than mess with suspension, consider some softer sidewall tires, maybe performance all season instead of summer only. Tires are alot cheaper (parts/labor) and easier to swap out than suspension parts.

Perhaps try swapping struts, springs, and sway bars with a non sport G37. It will be slightly softer.

Or switch to smaller rims. More sidewall will give you less of a bumpy ride, just be sure they clear the BBK

I think the smallest diameter on a sport is 18 in. which won't make too much of a difference if he's running 19 in. I didn't think the ride of stock sport was that stiff. BB is right though, you won't get much softer then suspension from a non-sport.

I don't find the S to have too hard of a suspension at all. The ride in my non-Si civic was way bumpier.
