Help me PLEASE with these strange turn of events...

So about 3 weeks ago, I see all my lights pop on (the dreaded vdcoff/slip/BRAKE lights and I also notice when I brake going 15mph or less to a complete stop, I heard a grinding noise and feel like there's something chomping while pressing the brake pedal.

I do some reading on our forums and figure out it might be the brakes and that chomping is possibly the brake pad worn so thin that its starting to scrape the rotor? I just replaced all brakes front and rear with hawk ceramics and got Adamsrotors front and back. I drive the car today and my guy who did the install said something didnt feel right when trying to bed in the brakes...he felt like the rotor wasn't meshing well or something...said to try it out for a few days and see how it goes after the brakes and rotors heat together and sit in...

So driving away all the lights are on again....this time the ABS light decides to join them!!! Not only that, but I feel that grinding chomping and hear it too when braking less than 15mph....this however does go away once the rotors and pads have been heated up a bit after driving.

My issues: VDCOFF light/SLIP/ABS/BRAKE lights come on....they go off for a few seconds once I hear that chomping and grinding, but come back on again

some solutions?

1) need new brakes - check...just did that and it still persists
2) Low on brake fluid - checked the bay and the brake fluid looks full, there's another cap next to the brake fluid, not sure what that is (the one to the right of the brake fluid if your hood is open and ur looking at it while standing in front of the car)....what's that fluid for?

3) Do I possibly need an alignment and that's causing the VDCOFF/SLIP lighting?

4) Is the BRAKE/ABS light secondary to a bad sensor?

5) How long before I should feel natural with these brakes? (They were just installed today)

ANY HELP to any of these issues would be appreciated.....

I was thinking of taking it to a firestone to get the alignment and also add some hubcentric rings to my aftermarket 20" wheels (I also seem to get steering judder when driving 65-70mph+)..and maybe it should fix some lights?

orrrr if that doesnt work.....jus take it to the dealership and have them check it out?

Thanks in advance for anyone who read all this and has any suggestions, appreciate it everyone

Check you abs sensors in the front and rear hubs to make sure they were not busted off during install. I broke one of mine when I was removing a dust shield as it bolts on the side of the spindle and sticks through into the hub area and can easily be overlooked.

Have your brakes looked at by someone else, something is not sitting right. And is your car 6mt? That's clutch fluid also brake fluid dot 3. Maybe try bleeding the brakes. VDC slip is brake fluid sensor try topping it up and ABS is maybe a sensor that wasn't put on properlly. Something is not sitting where its supposed to be. After even if its fixed I'm not sure you can remove the ABS light or it will come off on its own. After you fix maybe a battery disconnect will remove the ABS light.

DPE thanks, I'll try to find those ABS sensors and see if something doesnt look right....

Deamon, didn't even think about bleeding the brakes, I thought maybe the tech who put em on automatically bled them since they were new...I'll give it a shot.

As for disconnecting/reconnecting the battery, that didn't work since I put in a brand new optima redtop and the lights are still there

OP had the problem before brake install.
I do however agree theres an ABS issue.

OP
I would not go back to the installer, sounds like he has no idea about ABS.

The sensors, and ABS ring should be checked for any damage, or accumulated brake dust between ABS sensor, and ring gear ETC

Yea gunna take it to firestone on wed, lets see what happens? I'm starting to feel like it might be a brake line or brake fluid issue as well, since it feels almost like I've gotta press the pedal in about halfway before I get a good bite between the brake and rotor....DEFINITELY was NOT the case before

I also got my hubcentric rings today, I hope I can take care of these stupid issues by the time new years rolls around....I'll update this thread hopefully with some good news

Happy Holidays

GREAT, I took the car to FIRESTONE today and the guy there was completely unwilling to help. I scheduled an online appointment and everything and when I get there and explain the issues to him, his response was "yeaaa, that sounds like its a diagnostics issue, we don't do that on that kinda car here, you're going to have to take it to the dealership"

I mean really!? What the hell is the point in having "ASE CERTIFIED" plastered all over the walls if you can't even check out a set of brakes and rotors!? Im so pissed, especially since Im working ICU shifts this month, have almost no time to take care of personal issues, rush outta work to make this appointment and get shafted by this guy who tells me to take it to the dealership. I already wrote an email to customer service at Firestone about how bad this guy was.

On that note, does anyone know which Infiniti Dealership or reputable brake shop would be a good option in Central New Jersey?

I am also having similiar problem/s, VDC off light/brake light/ABS light, all came on and wouldnt go away till I shutoff and restart car. Took car to dealer and they told me my brake pad needs replacing. They said, because the brake pad is thinner now, the brake fluid level is lower and is causing these lights to come on.

Instead of replacing my brake pad, I am replacing it with a BBK lol.

Good luck.

UPDATE:
So I complained on the firestone website and received a call within an hour from their division rep in NJ who said to bring the car back and they'd check it out for free. They lifted it up and we took the wheels off and the first thing we noticed were grooves towards the top of the rotors....mind you these pads and rotors are less than 1 week old.

I just got a call back from the guy at firestone and they don't really have an answer for me as to why this is going on?

They also said the diagnostic codes arent saying anything to them.... I don't know if I should go to the dealer to try and take care of this with the current rotors, or get an exchange on the rotors (have the old rotors resurfaced and used in the meantime) and then try to put the exchange set of rotors on?

Any thoughts?

Did you take the wheels off and look at the brake pads?

This is just a guess, but the wear pattern tells me the wrong rotors are installed.
The wear pattern is too high, like the rotors are too small.
Did anyone mach them to the originals?
