Dealer quotes a Akebono BBK install
Dealer quotes a Akebono BBK install
So I get a call back today from a local I dealer for an Akebono BBK install.
$2550 parts and labor.
The parts can be purchased for $1550 from Concept Z.
$1000 for labor seems very high to me.
Am I off base here?
Thanks.

That's crazy! The install really isn't much.
...although saying "$1000" labor isn't necessarily accurate unless they gave it to you in writing, but sounds like your comparing to the other source you quoted. That $1550 kit you saw online, is just that, online. The dealer is probably charging you $2000++ on the parts. Ask them to break down the quote.

I'll get the breakdown in writing on Monday.
I'm just afraid to let some hack do it and then have problems down the road.
I need a good installed in the NY metro area that can do exhaust, bars, brakes etc......
Anyone?

It isn't that hard to unbolt calipers, put on rotors and bleed. Only thing on the rear is you might have to trim the splash shield on the X. I could do all that minus the trimming in probably 3 hrs.
The Stealership is trying to Rip you off as usual! Even $500 is high! At most 2 hrs labor & thats pushing it. If you dont feel comfortable doing it yourself then find a good local shop. Search the forum for others in your area who might be able to help you out or refer you to a shop. Since these are brand new assemble them yourself before you go in. Bring your own fluid & you should be good to go. I never go the stealership unless its warranty work.
