Exclamation Hawk HP Plus Pads & Stoptech Drilled Rotors

I have had the brakes for a little over 2 weeks now. I did the installation myself and it wasn't that bad, just required patience. I love the setup, stoptech rotors look really nice and so far no rust ring, even though I did paint the areas that would be effected, I even painted each drill hole on the rotors to ensure but that paint (even though it said high temp paint) is starting to peel. Here are the Pros and Cons;

Pros -

These blow the stock oem brake pads and rotors out of the water, the oem stuff was junk. These pads bite like a mother and on the highway at high speeds, when I apply the brake in a heavy way, they bite with absolutely no fading what so ever. The rotors are also very clean to look at and look nice.

Cons -

Brakes need to be up to temp in order for them to bite (highway especially). They squeak like a mother *** everywhere unless its cold out (weird I know), but this was expected due to the nature of the pads. Brake dust is insane, after only 2 days the wheels start to build up dust and even around the mud guards.

All in all I like this setup although I do want to try the HPS pads however that will have to wait until these wear out which I hope isn't as soon as my oem's were. Great rotors and great pads make me a happy person when I brake!

This is the brake dust problem, however if you clean your car frequently like I do and apply quality products and wheel sealants then its a breeze when cleaning wheels. I use Zaino Clear Seal to seal the wheels, gives it a beautiful shine and protection.

Dirty Wheel

Clean!

Great review! I was planning to get the Hawk Ceramic pads. You should do a DIY on replacing rotors!

I used the one linked below, it was really informative however it failed to mention how to remove rusty rotors as was the case with mine, no mallet or hammer could get it out, it was an easy solution as I mentioned in a response in that thread how I got it out.

Nice review. I'm loving mine also. What paint did you use on them? I used duplicolor high heat engine enamel and so far so good with no flaking, even after spending a day doing autocross.

I went with the hawk ceramics instead and there is virtually no dust. But I have noticed they need some heat to really start biting. It must just be one characteristic of hawk pads. I have noticed mine are a little noisy too and are starting to squeek some, but thats what you expect with these pad/rotor combos.
