Brakes Feel Hard After Spacer Install
Brakes Feel Hard After Spacer Install
Hello all. Thanks in advance for any response.
I recently put spacers on the rear of my car. Because I needed to put in longer wheel studs, I had to remove the caliper.
Unfortunately during the removing process, I didn't read the instructions
and instead of unbolting the correct 2 bolts to remove just the caliper, I unbolted the 4 bolts that hold the caliper together. Yes, I am a dummy. So when I removed the caliper, it came apart. During the process, a nominal amount of brake fluid leaked out. I then put the caliper/pad back together and bolted it back on to the rotor.
Checked the next morning and no fluid was leaking etc. So I thought I was good. Now this morning on the way to work my brake pedal feels extremely hard and my VDC light popped up. Also, braking obviously isn't performing like it should. Before I bring it in does anyone have any idea what could be the issue. I'm going to check the fluid to make sure there is enough, but it didn't' seem like enough leaked out to be that big of a problem.
Thanks for the help.

A) Easier does not = better. Stud replacement is the way to go.
If you lost brake fluid and your VDC light is on then your fluid is probably low and that will make the brakes feel different....I guess?

You guys think I should take it into the dealer and be like WTF my VDC light is stuck on and try to get them to warranty it?. At this point the spacers/studs are not on the car anymore.
I checked the fluid level and it is inbetween low and high... I little bit towards the low side but still in the normal range.

Put some fluid in it. If you lost any fluid, then did you bleed your brakes?
