G37x Rough Brake Feel

G37x Rough Brake Feel
Has anyone noticed a rough or 'scratchy' feel from the brake pedal when braking? It is somewhat like if the rotors were scratched or slightly grooved. Not as in warped rotors but kind of a similar feel like if you were riding over a rough cement road vs a new blacktop road (sorry, this is the best I can describe it). Of course, dealer said all is working normally

I think what you are experience is road surface feel through the brake pedal. I had this on my 08 and my 09. I've also experience this in the loaners G's I've used. On smooth road is not as bad but is there.

Yes, I experienced the exact same thing you described, but only once or twice. I believe it might be the ABS kicking in, since the brakes on the G37 seem very grippy (a good thing). I had to adjust to feathering the brake pedal instead of stomping on it.

BlueSlate' Here's a little test you could do just for your own
edification. Find a nice smooth secluded stretch of road where
you can do a couple of hard and harder stops from say
60MPH, where you can feel safe, and not have to focus
on other cars. See if you can make a stop or two
so you can actually feel the difference between a non-ABS
stop and an ABS engaged stop. My guess is that what
you are noticiing is either road feedback through the pedal
or you are actually enguaging the ABS as previously
suggested by others. I have noticed that the ABS
on my G37X seems to enguage much more easily than
any of my previous cars. Good luck

was wondering the same thing
I just bought a 2011 g37x S and was wondering the same thing. Relieved to hear these responses. I noticed that it wasn't consistent but thought it may be from heat.

Just purchased '12 G37X with 21k miles. It sat for a bit on the dealer lot so it had some rust on the brakes. I'm happy to read this thread because I thought something was wrong on my ride home from dealer. There is definitely a lot of feedback through the pedal. Seems to have gotten a little better as rust wore off.

I recently bought a 2011 G37 certified pre-owned with 26000 miles, I have the same issue,I never owned a car with brake feel like that> brought it to the dealer, they first changed the front rotors (because there was something in car history with front brakes), then I came back and they changed the back rotors, I paid for new pads. Still feel that road feel and rough rotor feel. Is that normal for all the G's or just some,or maybe it will work itself in. The loaner Q50 while car being repaired felt nothing like that.

Most OEM rotors will warp around 20-30k. Infiniti will turn them free of charge due to a TSB. Best bet is to get some aftermarket rotors and pads. I have the Akebono Performance OEM and I love them. The like to warm up a bit, but don't have the annoying quick bite like the stock pads. Once warm they are progressive and smooth. "Someone I know" has had to do some 120-50 hard brakes unexpectedly and they exude confidence.
