Is anyone else having a problem with their brakes making a loud vibrational squeak / whine while applying brakes in reverse?

it is normal for larger rotors to make such a noise when baking up. especially if the rotors are cold.

 

Thanks...I wasn't aware of that. Is there anything I should / can do about it. I hate the smirk I got from the BMW guy who was about to get in his car when my brakes were whining....don't want it to happen again.

 

you might jsut have a lil dirt in there or a small pebble...should go away...also it could be a bad pad...if its that obnoxious take it to the dealer...let them know everything...f them..you paid enuff for a car let them fix whatever the company screwed up!..

 

Ya go to the dealer. I got them to replace my shift ****. It had a small scratch i found it 2 days after i got the car i did not expect them to do anything but i was just talking to the sales guy and he was like well we'll order you a new one. free of charge ofcourse. Thanks Erickson infiniti of edmonton you rock. Dennis is the sales man and he rocks.

no that is not normal on this set up. you should take it back to the dealer. do you have sport?

 

Yes...I have the sport. I spoke to dealership today and they said to bring it in...may need an adjustment. I'm not sure what kind of adjustment they would do but they have to fix it.

 

are you lightly touching hitting the brakes?

 

Lightly touching ....just controlling speed of backing up out of parking space or out of driveway as examples.

 

I get the same thing once in a while when it's cold.
Never heard of disc bakes needing adjusting. What did the dealer say? I'm 150 miles from mine.

 

I went to dealership and they said they already had a lot of other people asking about it. Apparently, it is something we have to live with when you have large cold rotors. I told them a BMW guy was laughing at me when getting into his car and he said his rotors will do the same.

 

I had my 7000mile service and asked them to check the rotors. They said it is common for big rotors to be a little noisy when cold. This only happens on reverse for me.
