Steering Wheel Intelligent Cruise Control

Hi all,

Curious as to if anyone knows the part number for the steering wheel buttons that have the ICC, along with if anyone knows whether or not the harness is the same for both but with just the extra wire(s) for the ICC. Looking to add a button for my car to turn something on and off and want to hook it up to that button if possible.

Won't work. While the wiring is the same the switches used a stepped resistor setup. Each button has a specific resistor value assigned to it. When the car sees a particular value on the network that function is initiated.

In other words, these buttons are not SPNO/NC switches.

FWIW, I'm using a G37 steering wheel that has the ACC button, but my car doesn't have ACC (because 6MT). All the other buttons work properly, except this one ACC button, which does nothing.

Exactly. Because the resistor value produced is not recognized by the car. It doesn't know what to do so it does nothing.

I would be tapping into the wire to have it activated/deactivate an added accessory on its own circuit. Plan is to cut that wire out of the harness completely. Would that be possible?

Not possible. Each switch block (L/R) only has two wires: signal and ground. You can't "hijack" this setup for your idea.

Would it be possible to desolder the block, connect the wires directly to the cruise control button, and for the icc just attach my wires? I couldn't find a wiring diagram or any pictures to help me visualize it so I'm just working on understanding it right now.

Your welcome to try but regardless you can't "hijack" or "piggyback" the CC button You would have to completely isolate the button from the board. But then you would have another issue: I don't recall if there are 2 empty slots on the clockspring or not. If there are then you have the pathways to run the wires. If not, full stop.

It's been a while but I think there are 2 unused pins on the clockspring but I can't say for certain. I know when I did my wheel swap I had to use a different clockspring as I needed 3 pathways.

There are no circuit diagrams for the switches. Just the resistor values and wiring.

The p/n for the switches is 25550-1BA3A

Now, a member over on the GT-R forum was able to re-wire one of his steering wheel buttons to the engine start /stop function. Here is the link GTRLife though he doesn't go into detail what all was involved.

What clockspring did you use? (Just in case)

The M37 clockspring worked for my needs as it had the 3 extra pins I needed for the paddle shifters plus the steering wheel heater circuits. However, this was after much research and testing using the multimeter and FSM's to ensure compatibility. YMMV
