So where do you put the dog?
Due to temporary unforseen circumstances, my '08 G37 coupe will be my only car for a couple of months. I have a 90 lb pitbull/hound mix, a little under German Shepard size. I take him to the park around 3 times a week. He does not seem to be interested in getting in the backseat, can't blame him, access is a decent angle to get in and not lots of room to get in. Front seat cushion does not seem like enough room for him. Any ideas?
Not sure about the coupe, but the sedans passenger seat can recline to almost totally flat. You could do that and your dog would have a much larger area to lay down on as long as you get some blankets to cover everything.
Yeah, the seat doesn't recline as much in a coupe apparently. But that's kind of what I'm thinking. Recline the seat as much as it will go and "build up" the passenger foot well with blankets so he sort of has the seat and some of the footwell area which would be higher. Don't think there is too many choices. Will be fun to have the car as my daily driver for a while though, won't be fun buying premium all the time though. We recently got hardwoods so his nails are regularly trimmed. And there will be lots of blankets. Not sure how I would use a cargo net, co have one for the back seat of the Taurus. Thanks for the input!
Not a cargo net... a cargo blanket. Also referred to as a "moving blanket"; (as in, moving furniture from one house to another.)
The few times I have to take the dog somewhere without someone else to hold on to him. I use something like this:

Got it, have a cover for the Taurus which goes in the back seat from their headrests to the front seat headrests, thought that's what you were referring to. Will check with Home Depot and U Haul for a cargo blanket. Luckily it will just be a couple of months, will have the Acura MDX after that to put the dog in.

So the bottom of the rear seat is extremely easy to take out. You can take out the bottom, put a movers blanket on it.
This will give about 1 foot of extra roof space and no chance of ruining the bottom.
You can lay a blanket nicely for the back one.

I'll look into removing the rear bottom. Still have to get the dog in the rear seat in the coupe. Looked at folding down the rear seat but makes the "area" so high not enough room for my dog. He inherited his legs from the hound, not the pit bull. This was easier when I had the Explorer, folded the rear seats and he had 6' by 5'. Oh well, will only be for a couple of months. Thanks everybody for your input!
Not sure what your living/social situation is like, and someone more knowledgeable would have to chime in with regards to airbag issues or anything, but what about just removing the passenger seat and putting a big blanket down over the connections/mounting for it?
