Steering wheel lock control unit failed

Howdy, guys
I'm new to this forum, and new to Infinitis. I recently got a 2008 G37 and I love this little car. I had no problems until one day it wouldn't start. The problem is the anti-lock steering control unit. This is a very expensive item to replace and I'm hoping there is a way to bypass it. I'm not concerned about losing the anti theft function. I need this unit completely out of the circuit so that I can start my car! Has anyone else had this problem, and knows a work around?

I remember seeing awhile back a video on a Z with the same problem and he pulled the fuse for the steering lock unit and problem was solved. Although the catch was that I think you had to at least get the turn to 'On' state in order for it to work.
You could try looking up that video.

This guy seems a little goofy- which is fine by me- but the procedure he uses to disable the steering lock is spot on.

Correct me if I am wrong. I think the fuse pull trick only works if your steering lock module still works.

You might wanna try tapping the module with a hammer. I have seen people started their car using that trick.

You are correct. Once the steering lock module fails there is little one can do to get it to unlock. Some have had success with the hammer method as you mentioned.

Pulling the fuse is more of a preventive measure.
