HELP - My Lights are All Screwed Up!!!
HELP - My Lights are All Screwed Up!!!
Hi guys,
I'm having a problem with my lights and just can't figure it out. I have a 2008 Sport Coupe. Last year I installed fog lights. I followed the post that TVPostSound had put up on this site. I put Lumens HID's 8000 k with the ballists. They work great no problems at all with them. They are now working as my daytime running lights (I live in Canada, we have them up here).
As for the rest of my lighting configuration - the HID has been replaced with 8000 k lights. The main fog lights (beside the HID, not the ones I put in myself) are also Lumens HID 8000 k with ballists. Finally the parking lights have been replaced with small LED's.
My issue is this guy's, I have my light control in the car set to automatic and only one of the fog lights comes on. It's usually the drivers side that doesn't work. It has come on so I know all lights work. Sometimes the main HID on the drivers side doesn't come on either. If I play with the control arm in the car turning it on and off I can get the lights to come on and off. i have no idea what the problem is.
Any one out there know what the heck is going on!!??
Thanks

Thanks guys.... I never thought of that!! I'll start the fun task of taking off both front tires and getting up into the lighting area to exchange the ballots from side to side. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again my friends!
Okay guys we have a different problem!!!
I hope there is an electrical specialist out there that knows exactly what the F is wrong with my lights!
First off I bought new ballists and replaced the one light that wasn't working.. It was a brand new light (the upper fog light) so I didn't think it was the light but I bought a new one anyway and now it works. So EVERY light I have works, I got them all to come on. Turning the arm all the way to on and all the lights (all 4 lights on each side) come on.
So the problem I have NOW - I got the control arm set to automatic. At first the main HID and the upper fog light on the drivers side wouldn't come on. The lower fog light (that I added) and the parking light on the drivers side were the only lights coming on while on the passenger side all 4 lights were on. Which surprised me I thought only the lower fogs would be on as daytime running lights. I kept turning car on and off, changing the arm and I would get different lights coming on. As soon as I changed upper fog light and turned car on it came on but now the passenger upper fog would not come on. First time that happened!! No matter what I did ther passenger main HID would always come on and the drivers side would only come one when I changed control arm to on.
Hopefully that gives you guys an idea of the F-ing issues I have with my lights... All these problems started after I had my drivers side front corner/light fixed due to a SOB hit me in a parking lot and took off. So body shop had to replace lights and wires were cut and then reattached and to be honest I have no idea if they are screwed up or not. From what I can follow they look right but I'm not positive. Sorry for long post but if anybody can help that would be great.
Thanks guy's

Has it always been like that bc I've always read about people have ur issue when the light is set to auto? Was jus the way it was I think was jus ballast related. Nothing u can do to fix . Are u using slim ballasts? I believe those were notorious for it. I never had the issue could be bc I uses the larger regular size hid kits. I liked those better than the slim ones seems to work better.
All my lights are Lumens lights. The added lower fogs (TVPost Sound) is 8000k with ballists. The regular fog lights are 8000k with ballists. The parking lights are Phillips LED. And the main light is a 12000k Lumens bulb. I think the main issue is the passenger side big light (12000) that comes on with the control arm set to automatic. I believe all other lights are working properly now. Does anyone now why that light would come on with the control on automatic???
Thanks for any help that can be given.

I Think I Narrowed Down the Issue
Hi Guys again!
I have been playing around with my lights and now the problem has been narrowed down. The main HID on the drivers side does not come on. No matter what I do with the lighting control arm I can get everything to come on except the drivers side main HID.
I even changed the 12000 K bulbs from side to side and the drivers side still doesn't come on but the passenger side always comes on (if it is supposed to depending on controls). I looked for some sort of relay or fuse for the drivers side HID and couldn't find anything. I thought there would be a legitimate reason for the drivers side main HID not coming on.
Is there anyone out there that might have an idea of what I can check or do to try and get the drivers side HID to work?!
Thanks in advance for any reply's. I can really use the help and advice!

System Description
INFOID:0000000001604582
OUTLINE
• Mobile valve shade type is adopted. Xenon headlamp
switches the high beam and the low beam with one
xenon bulb each on right and left.
• Headlamp is controlled by combination switch r
eading function and headlamp control function of BCM, and
relay control function of IPDM E/R.
HEADLAMP BASIC OPERATION
• BCM detects the combination switch conditi
on with the combination switch reading function.
• BCM transmits the low beam request signal to IPDM E/R with CAN communication according to the head-
lamp ON condition.
Headlamp ON condition
- Lighting switch 2ND
- Lighting switch PASS
- Lighting switch AUTO, and the auto light fu
nction ON judgment (with auto light system)
• IPDM E/R turns the integrated headlamp low relay ON
, and turns the headlamp ON according to the low
beam request signal
Part
Description
BCM
• Judges each switch condition by the combination switch reading function.
• Judges that the headlamp is turned ON according to the vehicle condition.
- Requests the headlamp relay (HI/LO) ON to IPDM E/R (with CAN communication).
- Requests the high beam indicator lamp ON to the combination meter [with CAN
communication (through unified meter and A/C amp.)].
IPDM E/R
Controls the integrated relay, and supplies voltage to the load according to the request
from BCM (with CAN communication).
Revision: 2007 June
There could be a problem with either the BCM or IPDM
Put all the OEM parts back & see if the problem clears.
