Changing Lights: Through Engine Bay

I believe the common practice to swap out exterior lights has been done primarily by going in through the fender liner. Is it possible to change certain bulbs by going in through the top of the engine bay and removing the air intakes??

In my case, I'm wondering if its possible to change out the fog lights this way. I plan on adding aftermarket intakes and figure I'll swap out as many bulbs as I can with leds/better alternatives (i.e. chrome turn signal bulbs) while I have the stock air intake assembly removed.

I'd really appreciate any insight you guys can give me on this. Thank you!

Check out the DYI forum there are some good threads on changing bulbs and how they can be accessed.
Removing the air boxes is super easy but unfortunately they don't get you much access. The wheel well and bottom liners are really the best way.

Ok, thanks zilla. Those fog lights give me so much trouble for some reason, just thought I might get lucky and find a work around. I recall someone on here mentioning that he was able to change the drivers side fog light by going in through the engine bay but didn't specify for the passenger side. I'm thinking it might be tough with the washer fluid reservoir in the way? It's been a while since I've been under the hood lol

There is no way for you to access the fogs through the engine bay. Your best bet is thru the wheel well liner or remove the bumper or find a shop that could put the car on a lift and then you can remove the undertray and have better access.

It's really not that tough.
I swapped my fogs through the wheel well. (More underneath)
Without removing the wheel, and only peeling back part of the liner. If you undo the corner part of the under carriage liner it helps... Search the fog replacement threads, I believe I posted some tips there as well...on top of the bunch That's already there.

It should be mentioned that the bumper supports and aluminum beam itself will prevent you from accessing the bottom of the bumper from the engine bay. As others have said, going through the fender liners and/or removing the composite bottom cover are really the best ways to gain access to the lower bumper.

Driver's side fogs you can do easily enough through the wheel-well, but the passenger side has to be done from underneath. And you don't need a lift, just ramps and patience.

Here is Superjoey's most excellent thread on fog light replacement.

He has a couple of threads on various light replacements.

This should make it all clear

Thank you all very much for the good tips and information. The stock fogs are so dim (as you all know I'm sure.) I also just happened to notice that my drivers side fog light has a crack in the lens : / I looked up the part and according to the diagram, it's just one screw holding it in. Hopefully it's not too difficult to replace.
