Holy ****... I thought my 2009 G sedan had road battle scars?? I have a bunch of paint chunks not chips..lol. It's black underneath the paint.. I bought it used so not sure if there was any repainting going on. Wow.. That black front end looks like it was washed with sand paper... No offense!! Mine is still very shiny just has a bunch of chunks missing...lol a good detail shop might be able to bring her back ?? All the best ....

That's OK Telcoman, with all the money you've saved from using 87 octane you'll be able to R&R that bumper w/ cash left over

I'll be leaving that for the next owner.

I may have hit a large piece of cardboad on the parkway on a rainy and foggy night at around 65 MPH?

If it makes you feel any better my 2013 g37 malbec black with 38k on the clock has a horrific amount of swirls, chips, scratches, etc.

I swear, if i ever do, when i respray the entire car, it might be malbec black in color, but I sure as hell will be using a more durable paint, or more layers of paint!

I'm in the same boat with my Blue Slate. Rock chips, swirls, and it looks like the previously over pissed someone off and got the car keyed.

Anyone get a quote for a full respray yet? I'm seriously considering it.

Might look into a vinyl wrap, if you're in a big metro area there should be some decent shops.

HMMMM...Never considered it. Is wrapping becoming a popular alternative to paint?

No, you just being careful. No tailgating; Don't follow trucks with no splash guards; Avoid 80+ mph high speed driving; Don't drive on crappy roads... You will be just fine. I've gotten a few stone chips. All from high speed highway drivings. I got no extra chip for months when all my driving were around towns.

Seriously, what do you expect when hard objects hitting your paint at 80+ mph? Infinti paints are no worse or better than other manufacturers.

Yep, it's getting much more common, and being in Chicago you should be able to find a few places that are good at it.
It's a good idea if you're planning a different color as you can remove it easily when you want to go back to stock or to change it to a different color several years later. Should be quite a bit cheaper too.
Here's a convertible on the site that just wrapped his~

Im very disgusted with how easily my Malbec black Ipl paint chips. Just a tip for some black car guys. I use a black sharpie to make very small chips disappear. Maybe not as perminate but looks much better than a raised glob of black touch up paint.
