so are these clear lenses easy to DIY? can you just pull the old ones out and swap these in? as per that thread on the370z there seems to be some cutting involved

Once you bake open the headlights it's pretty easy, I just swapped mine out w/ a thicker cardboard spacer, but to get the best cutoff and more blue edge flicker the thicker wire spacer would be what I'd recommend. And for an even sharper cutoff the shield can be cut.
Here's a bit more on the actual lens replacement
Anyone do the STi-R lens swap? - G35Driver
One of those HID lighting websites has more info on the shield cutting but I don't have the link handy

Any comment about how the STi-R lenses "burn" the paint and bubbles per the first link (page 2) you posted Blnewt from the 370z forums?

Have you experienced this yet?

Kevin, it looks like the pic posted was of the small turn signal bulb cover upgrade, that's not the big HID projector. Didn't even know there was an option for those
I've had my STiR lenses on for over 2 years w/ no issues whatsoever.
I didn't do any cutting of the metal shield, my cutoff is very crisp, much better than OEM, but not the perfect straight line cutoff that you'd get w/ altering the shield

I know it's been a while but it happened to me but this is the second time with and without the STI r lense. Is this what your referring to? How do you prevent it?
