Any have experience with 55w HIDs?

Thinking about using the high output bulbs to some degree via headlights and/or fogs. Anyone have experience with them as to the point of knowing it won't melt housing or not being able to point head lights down far enough to make them ridiculously right to oncoming traffic.

I think you will have to change the ballast that outputs 55w. The ballasts are located inside thr headlight housing.

I have no idea if it will melt the housing.

I recently installed 55w HIDs in my fog lights, about 2 weeks ago. Haven't noticed any housing issues as of yet. They're really bright though.

Digital slim ballast 55W, I personally got 6k. For install, ran a relay from the battery vs doing the plug and play method so that both ballasts get equal and uniform power. In addition, theres a nice place to mount the ballasts right behind the bumper so their protected from the elements.. I should have taken pictures.

I changed my foglights to HIDs, not the headlights. I switched the headlight bulbs to the OSRAM 5k to go along with 6k HID fogs. Sorry for the confusion.

I tried to run 55w 6k and they looked the exact same as my 30w(?) 5k, and my driver side kept turning off here and there randomly alot.

Did you use a relay to power the ballasts vs the harness where the stock fog lights where plugged into? I think that might have been the reason they kept turning off and on due to the ballasts not getting enough power from the stock harness
