HID Bulb Clips Trouble

Hello everyone. Today, I attempted to replace my HID bulbs with some 6000K ones. I plugged each of them into the bulb socket (some octagon/hexagon/pentagon shaped piece of metal) for the bulb, and neither of them lit up.
To make matters worse, when I attempted to put the bulb socket back on the stock bulb, I could not get it to slide into place so I could turn and lock it. I ended up taking the stock bulb out, attaching the bulb socket to it, and putting them back into the housing together, but the clips that hold the bulb are hard to get on with the bulb socket attached to the bulb.
I had already tried several times to get the bulb socket onto the bulb while it was in the housing, but could not twist it on. Why is this so hard? In the end, I put them in together and put the clips in place, but the bulb is slightly crooked. How should I go about doing this when the new bulbs come in? Thanks in advance.

I've swapped my HID bulbs twice and did not have any issues with the clips. I mounted the bulb directly into the housing (make sure those pins line up) and you should be able to put the clips back into place.

Were you able to install your new ones?

Once in try using a vise grip or similar to twist it. This is my method since I have girly fingers, lol!
