Paint in center console.

Hey guys so we had two really hot days here and it seems that the touch-up paint pen that carried around leaked in my center console box. i tried to get the paint off using some paint remover but unfortunately it also ruined my box. the plastic melted a little and lets just say it not perfect anymore (i want my car to be in pristine condition). I looked through FSM and the part online. i am about ready to just order it, but the question i have is that do i remove the entire console assembly to swap the box? if so how hard is it to remove the whole console. I tried searching but haven't found either a good DIY or write up. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The console is not that hard to remove. It's one piece, you'll have to replace it all to replace the box. The hardest part is that you'll have to remove the shift **** to get the center console completely out to replace it.

Thanks BB, yeah i have been looking through quite a few other post it seems it wasn't too hard move the cover down pull the pin and remove ****, is that not the case? as far as console do you know if i remove the two screws towards the front and two on the back below the rear vent, does the console just come out? Also in the FSM its kind of confusing regarding the vent. the console instructions say refer to vent portion to remove the vent and the vent portion says refer to console portion to remove vent. I am kinda confused if this even needs to be removed.

I'm familiar with the coupe, not the sedan and I see from the diagram that they are different. It seems like part #5 is all your need to replace instead of the whole console.

I can't help you with the vent because my coupe doesn't have them there. I just open the lid and pry up a black plastic strip by the hinge. It covers 4 screws, remove the 2 that hold the console to the bracket on the floor, not the 2 that hold the lid to the console. I have 6MT so up front you just have to take off the **** then pry the bezel that holds the shift boot up. Pull out the lower metal trim around the shifter, it's clipped in with no screws. Then remove 2 screws behind it that hold the front of the console in place. There's about 4 clips to undo and the console lifts out.

Why is it listed as a separate part number with it's own price?
