Ya I am actually looking for more of a darker look covering up the red and white lights in the day time and only being able to see them when you press the brake lights

While the vinyl provides an alternative, the best way is to dilute black paint into clear coat and spray that. If you have a Black Gm it would be recommended you purchase the same paint and dilute that. The problem with vinyl is they lose their sine very quickly and as opposed to paint it cant simply be buffed and waxed like paint.

they used spray on my lights and it looks very nice but it is sort of dull and lacks the shiny look of the car paint. is their anyway to buff wax and get the coat shiny to somewhat match the paint on the car?

If you want to get nuts, send them to me and I'll paint them with matching automotive paint and clearcoat!

If you don't want to send them out, and prefer to do them yourself, I've heard that Nightshades works pretty good.

Good luck

Nightshades is ok, but will be dull without clearcoat.

nightshades EXTREMELY DIY-able
you can adjust it to your preferences accordingly and if you dont like it, they come off EASILY with laquer thinner. just spray clear coat after and let it dry for a day or 2 (preferably in the sun AWAY from contaminants esp bird gunk) and you can buff/polish to shine after.

I tinted mine with Nightshades and I will say this it can be buffed to a total shine no clear coat. though I will caution you the more layers of the paint will make it very dark to where your lights wont be able to be seen during the day...so I've done mine twice and this time only using 3 coats seems to be the ticket....Hope the info helps....also my first one was 5 coats way WAY TO BLK!!!

paint/spray will always look cleaner. however, the advantage of translucent vinyl is that it is removable if you ever wanted to take it off, got a ticket and had to remove it, or it got scratched. with the vinyl, id recommend going to a shop thats worked with taillights, or one of bluebatmobile's installers. out taillights have a nasty angle to them which makes installing vinyl smoothly very difficult. spray/paint avoids that hassle, but its definitely a more "permanent" solution.

The best way to tint tail lights is to first look up your state’s law on the subject, lest you get repeatedly pulled over and eventually forced to restore them back to OEM. California’s law is typical and is quoted here:

Taillamps shall be red in color and shall be plainly visible from all distances within 500 feet to the rear except that taillamps on vehicles manufactured after January 1, 1969, shall be plainly visible from all distances within 1,000 feet to the rear.
Of course, that 1,000 foot rear requirement in daylight may be a problem if it’s overdone.
