reverse light replacement

Hey Guys....sorry if this has already been answered, but i haven't been able to find it anywhere.....

I am in desperate need of some help, im trying to replace my reverse lights with superwhite leds which i purchased, does anyone have an idea of how to get to the lights. I removed all the clamps and everything in the trunk and it seems almost like i have to take out the whole assembly....any help would be really appreciated, thanks guys!

In each of the G37 sections The coupe, sedan and convertible, there is a link to the Factory Service manual (FSM). You can download it and see how it comes apart.

You never said what type of g37 you have.

Yes you have to remove the entire tail light assembly. There are no access holes like in most honda/acuras.

took me really long the first time.. but the 2nd time took 3 minutes lol.

The trick is use a rubber mallet and repeatedly knock on the end of 2 bolts further towars outside. hammer them in the direction of pulling movement. pull back as you knock and soon the plastic clips will eventually pop out.

good luck

On the sedan it is easy. Just pull the clips holding the carpet trim to the inner trunk lid. Then you have access to the reverse bulbs.

if you really want to make a difference on reverse light then just get the LED license plate thing. you dont need reverse light at all if you have that. 16w of LED power blinding bright.

Frankly, I would not use this method. Those clips are meant to be pulled off and not pushed. With pushing (hitting with a hammer) you run the risk of the threaded shaft pushing back into the light housing, cracking it and causing an expensive replacement. There are many threads but do the "pull" method, just pull hard, it won't break.

Really isn't hard .... stupid that it was designed this way but it's pretty easy. You just have to get past the fear of tugging really hard. I would not do it in the dead of winter with cold plastic though .... IMHO

I don't have a problem tuggen on the lights to get them out. The verts trunk is totally different We have support columns for the roof in the way. The way to access the bolts to the lights you have to take the whole trunk apart almost to get to the lights. Again this is for the vert only
