OEM Spoiler and Removing Third Brake Light

I will be purchasing an 08 6MT in the next few days, and it has the little chrome "spoiler" on it. I am looking to replace with the OEM spoiler, but I'm guessing you'd have to remove the third brake light behind the rear window for a clean look.

Can someone point me in the direction of what's involved with removing this?

Do a search on this, its well documented.

Remove the parcel shelf, buy a new parcel shelf without 3rd brake light.

Some people just disconnect that light on the rear deck and tint the rear window with fairly dark tint. I mention this just in case you had not thought of it.

Good point.

With the particular car I'm purchasing, it looks like they tinted around that light, so I'd have to get it re-tinted anyways

I'm currently trying to sell an 08 6MT and I think I'm asking an extremely low price for it and still can't sell it, do you mind me asking the details and how much you're paying for it?

I recently bought a 6mt with 35k for $25k from the dealer with a clean car fax and no accidents. Private party you can expect to receive a little less than that.

I'm buying an 08 6MT Sport in Ivory Pearl with 20K on the odometer, w/ Navigation package and Premium package, with illuminated kickplates for $27600. Clean Carfax and 1 owner.

I just disconeccted it when I bought my spoiler and used that same wire to power the brake light on the spoiler. Easy!

It takes less than 10 minutes to swap it out.

Dealer just handed it to me. I gave him the old one, and installed the new one
in the service driveway. Service manager thought it was an hour job, until I showed him what I learned here!!!

Has anyone done the reverse. I currently have my brake light in the spoiler. Planning on getting a duckbill trunk and relocating third brake light behind the rear window...

Did not find a DIY after doing a search......

I thought about disconnecting it for the cleaner look, but i figured the more brake lights on, the more visible I am when braking, so I left it and it still looks good.
