Well, the dealer finally shipped my Midnight Black grill and spoiler to me. I told them to wait till they got the spoiler so I'm not too upset. I'm going to try to put the grill in myself using the DIY from this site. Anyone have any suggestions or hints? I'd appreciate it! Oh and unless I think it's horrid looking I've got an OEM chrome grill for sale! $100

IMHO its easier to drop the bumper and do it than removing the radiator cover.

 

I guess it must be pretty easy to remove the bumper? I can get the radiator cover on/off in like 5 or 10 minutes.

There's nothing to it. Just follow the DIY.

 

Yup, follow the DIY. I went through the radiator cover as well. Just be careful with the hood release cable.

 

OK, I'm done. Was very interesting. I didn't crack the cover and it in fact came off pretty easily. One thing that helped a lot was I just clipped with a wire cutter the spot underneath those two metal posts/dots (guides?) in the middle at the very back. That made the cover slip right up. They are pointless and redundant. Also, unscrew the coolant reservoir. It's just two screws and gives you a ton more room and uses the same screw anyways and you have the ratchet in hand right there. Finally, the metal uh ill call it a hanger that bolts the cover in the middle? WTF is that for? Yes I know to hold down the cover but there's about 10 screws that do that and the hanger thing is the biggest pain to get around. In the end, I looked at it and decided it was stupid so just bent it all the way down and left it that way. Made no difference as the cover is now bolted back on solid. Anyways, heres some pics of the new grill. Yeah I definitely like it. So, if you want the chrome one just PM me. I have the original packaging so I can get it to you no problem. Figure $20 for shipping.
P.S. I also put in new 5k HID headlights. LOL oops I screwed up yet again! That's the wrong color and still doesn't match the LED's I put in for park lights.

looking to refinish my stock grille. what's the issue with the hood release cable?

 

It only takes 5 minutes to drop the bumper too.

8 plastic clips and 4 bolts.

I can drop a bumper, swap the grill and put the bumper back on in under 15 mins. Members here have seen me do it. lol

Unfortunately I didn't see a DIY on removing the bumper. Eh no biggie, I had fun doing it the other way.

 

yeah the radiator cover is easier for some, the bumper for others. either way, changing the grille takes 5 minutes. looks good!
