Leather Seat Appointment

Hi Guys,

I booked an appointment for next wednesday with my dealer to have them look at the start of the bubbling in my seat. Furthermore, there are a lot of cracks fairly deep beginning to form and I have had the car only a month.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I should approach the appointment to get them to fix this? I have read the other threads about this and I know a lot of people have not had much luck. I am taking it to infiniti of south bay in torrance, ca (where I bought my car).

I took mine back to Sewell here in Dallas after 3 months of ownership and they ordered the seat cushion for me 2 weeks ago. They agreed it was a problem that needed to be fixed. I had no trouble at all. I was also told the cushions are on national back-order which does not surprise me at all. Better problem than a sticky brake pedal!

I hope I have the same luck as you. I could tell the dealership was a bit skeptical and said they would only give me a loaner car if they determined it was more than just normal wear and tear.

You can print a copy of the 20 page thread and show them maybe?

the thread won't do anything because it is all about opinions and nothing from corporate. Corporate has to approve it. If you only had the car for a month I don't see a problem.

same here - just went in on a regular service appt and told them about the seat. I didn't mention that there is a 20 page thread on here! they took pictures and then called me the next day and said they would fix it. I took it in about 2 weeks later and it was fixed for free!

I thought I would have to fight for it but was glad I didn't!

Dealer: Infiniti of Thousand Oaks (California)

For those who had their seat/leather replaced, did the issue come back after it was replaced?

I actually had my seat cushion replaced about 2 weeks ago. All in all, it took them over a month to get the part (b/c it was on a backorder).

Right away I noticed that the new seat is much softer than the previous one. It seems that it has more cushon and the leater is a little bit softer.

About a week ago, I had a loaner car - new 09 sedan, and noticed that my new seat is identical to sedan's.

Not sure about the other - but I have a non-sport, so maybe that is why the used the same seat as the sedan.

Time will tell if the problem comes back.

Mine came back but instead of the seat having a dip, it kind of comes out now. Maybe they put too much padding under it i dont know.

So I had the appointment. The guy agreed that it looks like a problem considering how new the car is (1.5 months old). I also have premature cracking of the thigh support closest to the driver door (unfortunately =( ).

He brought over another guy and they both consented to the problem. He said he would talk to the service manager (not present at the time of appointment) about ordering the seat cushion. So I guess, for the moment, everything is pending the service manager's approval. Nevertheless, things are looking positive.

Just a good tip I thought of on the spot, compare your seat to a seat in a used model with more mileage than your car (that looks nicer than your current seat of course).
