Unhappy What Happens When Jump Starting!!

HEllo, i'm a new member on this forum but i was wondering if anyone has a clue on what is wrong. i replaced my HID BULBs with 8000k bulbs and i looked great for about a month, a few days ago in the morning i wet to start my car my battery was completly DEAD!.. WTF!! so i used my wifes pathfinder to jump start my car and it worked fine. i went to work then i noticed that my right hid bulb was not turned on. i figured..."well the bulb just burned out" so i went home later on that day and decided to install the oem bulb, ...and nothing happen,so i replaced it with the other oem bulb and nothing. while i was doing thisi had the car on to keep the lights on cause i didn't want to drain my battery again, and you know that you have to remove the intake box to get to the HID, well my SES light came on. So i did the ecu reset to get rid of the SES light and it didfor about a minute and i was driving SES was just flashing everytime i stepped on the throttled and at idle it was over 1100 RPM. so what do i do? did jump starting it cause this problem? Please Help.

Damn, sounds like you hosed your car from just a simple bulb change.

Here's my advice to you...

Put back in both OEM bulbs, and make sure you put back everything in place correctly. Make sure no screws or anything is out of place or missing. Clean around all the areas for your fingerprints and dust and make it look like you never even popped the hood. Then take your car to the dealership and tell them your car began to act up and play a stupid blonde. Going by that, hopefully they dont notice anything and fix your car under warranty.

PS : You aint hear it from me

COOL man thanks

Good advise!! i did everything and all i told them that i jump started my wifes car with mine. they finally fixed it at no cost...I GOT LUCKY I GUESS. Anyways they said they had to ordered a new control unit over night, they installed it and still didn't work so they have to troubleshoot to see if anythin was burnt or shorted. i'll be replacing the bulbs to 6000k intead of 8000k cause it was to blue and could hardly see anything at night. i'll see if i could post some pics before and after with all types of bulbs

Never ever ever do anything electrical on your car with the battery connected and especially if the engine is on. The fusible link that you blew out should never be blown during the life of your car unless you screw something up. If you are going to change bulbs, make sure the car is off as a minimum and even better, disconnect the battery. The fusible link is there to keep you from shorting out something else. You could have shorted out something that is very hard to find or even worse start a fire in your car.

6000K is probably the highest rating you can go with and still see anything at night, 5500K would be even better.

I dont understand why people decrease their lighting output by putting in these 6000K and greater temp bulbs..If you want bluer, then get a brand name like Philips 6000K Ultinon.

I guess the greater the K value of the bulbs give more tint output of your bulb but less brightness of the light. or something like that....

The higher the K, the poorer the output is..

Just so you know you dont have to remove the intake box to change bulbs. You can go through the wheel wells. Look in the dyi section under clearing headlights. It explains it in there.
